How Do Horn Speakers Get Their Gorgeous Life-like Tonality?

So I could first meet Brad on runway 16/34, 14/32 or 10/28…

due to my room "problems" I have changed my hORNS Universum III to hORNS Opera Beryllium Edition.
This speakers do use similar (some say the same) drivers as the Uni III, but the Opera can be better time aligned and do have a front firing subwoofer, which make them more easy to integrate in some rooms.
retail is similar in Germany (30k for Uni III, 28k for Opera Beryllium)IMG_9171.jpgIMG_9172.jpg

Hi Shakti,

How do these speakers sound versus the uni and the big Wilsons?

Hi Shakti,

How do these speakers sound versus the uni and the big Wilsons?

versus Uni III:
very similar, more easy to integrate in a room, a little less efficiency, as the horns as such are smaller
if well adjusted, very precise on various listening distances, Uni III needs in comparison a longer listening distance to achieve a similar one point source sound.

versus Maxx 3
two different worlds...., not easy to compare.
Try to explain the difference from apples and pears. I like both :)

I read this review of the JBL 4367 and was astonished at the low distortion

JBL 4367

“Can you handle the truth!”

Just musing. I wonder how the Westminster SE would match with the Zanden 6000.

Hi Dave,

Yes spot on. The Voxativs are a bit average next to the AERs. Not sure whether you ever heard the Stamm driver in the Loth X Horns. That driver has some serious magic - fastest driver I ever heard.

What is your horn? Can you share any details on PM.

Bill, you are exactly right and I couldn’t agree with you more, the Stamm drivers in the Loth-X cabinets are pure magic. The fastest full range single driver that I have personally heard. High resolution detail, nuance and bass articulation is off the charts. Enjoying my Loth-X Troubadours with original Stamm drivers.

Question : what's the différence between Pnoe made by Arcadian Audio with AER drivers and AER Pnoe ? Apart the price of the latter, which is double ?

AER Pnoe has an acrylic front horn as you can see in this photo. Arcadian version does not.

Justifying the price difference ?

I can’t advise - I don’t know the latest list prices for these nor which driver version you get - the latter being the critical piece in this jigsaw.

Indeed. The BD 5 from AER is quite expensive. The BDE driver is more affordable.

The BD5 is simply extraordinary and transforms the Pnoe even from BD4.

For a pair of widebanders? o_O
I mean this is for the drivers only?
For the AER Pnoe with BED5 Driver. Over the top. Waiting for a quote from Arcadian.
