I ran into so many misconceptions in the first couple of paragraphs that I had to stop wasting my time. But even if the details were right - which they certainly are not - it compeltely misses the point: If iTunes started selling 24/192 for 50 cents a song tomorrow, it wouldn't make much differece. 320kbps, hell, 256kbps is capable of so much more than the masters we're getting. It's the recording and mastering that is the problem. Even more to the point, it is the management and marketing that's the problem. Hi res will not fix it.
