Hello Everyone,

First public post, so I hope I've chosen the correct forum out of the plethora available.
If not, moderators, please feel free to move this post.

I've just purchased some large speakers (Volti Vittoria). Not new, so I have to organise shipping, all within the UK.

I'm looking for suggestions on companies that will move pallet sizes, decant the contents at the destination and put them in my listening room for me.
I'd also like them to disassemble the crates so I can store them.

While I'm at it, any suggestions on insurance? It would need to be new for old, cosmetic damage included.

Thank you in advance for taking the time read, and a double thank you if you take the time to post!

Dagda.

Sorry I cannot speak for UK logistics however I have a comment:

In my experience moving heavy and valuable equipment ( including an entire and very heavy Neumann vinyl mastering system both across the USA and then to ship to Germany ) is that insurance is important but don't count on much from it.

Pack like you have no insurance and presuming extreme abuse in transit ;)

Take a lot of pictures as they are crated and then uncrated.

I imagine you may need three contracts - one to pack, one for the transport and a third to uncrate and load into your space. It is fairly rare ime to find one company that wants to do it all...but I hope you do!

Hi Solpsa,

Thank you for the information, it's very useful.

I was thinking that possibly companies that specialise in moving pianos could be useful.
After all, a grand piano is big, heavy, expensive and often needs to be deposited in the owner's home, as apposed to the kerb outside the house.

Anyone else with experience of such a thing, please feel free to post.

I should mention that I know I can Google companies, but it's not every day you get someone posting on Trustpilot that company X did a wonderful job moving their big, heavy and expensive thing from A to B. So personal experience is would be really apricated.

Kind regards,

Dagda.

Re piano movers, at least within a city, this is one place where the delicate object is generally not crated but wrapped in blankets and moved alone without other parcels etc. in the truck. Its all about care in handling. On the other hand palletized shipments are generally aggregated with other goods and handled roughly...

BTW within the UK is pretty general re distance. A piano mover generally stays within an urban area AFAIK...

Hello All,

Just in case someone in the future has a similar question. I used a company called "Johnsons 1871" in the end. They did an absolutely amazing job. Got the pallets to my doorstep, disassembled them, took the utmost care getting the speakers into my room. Couldn't fault them. Very good price too.

Kind regards,

Dagda.

P.S. The speakers are fantastic :)
