I have been waiting for this feature forever. The ability to point the camera at something and have its translation. Well, Google Translate for Android is finally there: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-19736_7-57490525-251/google-translate-for-android-adds-ocr/

Alas, it doesn't yet work for the two languages I really like to have it for: Kanji (Japanese) and Mandarin (Chinese). If it can handle food items, one will never go hungry again in those countries without a translator!!! :) They say more languages are coming. Let's hope so....

Woohoo! I just downloaded my update!

BTW Amir, I doubt if you would find the Chinese translation very useful when you go to a Chinese restaurant :) Unlike western menus (which are descriptive), Chinese dishes are either traditionally named, named after poetry, named after someone famous who invented or loved the dish, etc. Thus, "dragon and phoenix" (prawns and chicken); "ma po tofu" (pockmarked grandmother tofu); "Buddha jumps over a wall" (a complex braise of >18 ingredients); "yellow gold prawns" (fried prawns with salted egg yolk); "General Tso's Chicken"; and so on.
