Looks like CES is holding a high res music seminar.

They claim that Hi-Res Audio is the fastest growing category in music. Any truth to this, or is this just marketing BS? I thought regular consumers don't care about sound quality, and whose ears "toss out" and ignore a lot of "irrelevant" information that audiophileys happen to go nuts for. Even CD is overkill for them. If you look at the happenings in the market over the past 15 years, that is certainly the case.
Furthermore, I thought vinyl was the hottest thing. Or maybe it's because the vinyl guys frequently post any and all industry statistics showing improved record sales they can find????
Regardless, seems like an interesting set of presenters: A dude from Ford Motor company(????), Chesky (the hdtracks dude), reps from various industry groups, as well as major music studios.
I wonder if these guys live in the real world or is this just an exercise in hype / wishful thinking?
