Saw the movie Brooklyn this afternoon. This one may not get much Oscar buzz but it will surely make it into my handful of favorite pictures this year. It may not be a great movie but it is a very enjoyable story. At times it is funny at other times poignant but never sappy.
Upon arrival Eilis misses here sister and mother back in Ireland. Things get better when she starts dating a Italian boy and taking some accounting classes. She is no longer quite as lonely in this crowded city.
The interaction at the dinner table between the five ladies who board with Mrs Kehoe (played by Julie Walters) was really funny, as was the dinner scene when she meets her boyfriends parents and family.
When she must return to Ireland she now sees her small town in a somewhat different light and this becomes her challenge.
