Haha okay , i m sorry i m not into turntables at the moment , the only thing i have to compare is studer B 62 , A 80 , telefunken M 15 A as sources , and off course my own design loudspeakers which sound like nothing you ve heard before ,... i think
Certainly not in the pricerange

I d have to ask him that
I assume you mean taking the cat for direct comparison against other pre s, he also has the octave jubilee monos which are very good and the zanden double box cd system

My current listening situation , moved the speakers up to the long wall to avoid side reflections .
Might be also the last situation lol , I ll be having a new job in brussels , travelling all over the world , supervising machine installation quality control , hope to move into a house with better acoustics , got my eyes on a classical 1900 s apartment with high ceilings, I ll post pics .
Aim is also still to buy high quality SS amplification , and then decide whether to stay with tubes , solid state or both
Fine tuning speakers ,i put some 2 mm woolfelt on the grill of the 30 mm thiel accuton tweeter , they can sound a bit pronounced , although i already have a flat response when measured
It will dampen the tweeter and reflexions , it sounds more in focus/more listenable and more spacious .
Its easy to do and take off again and very cheap , but it has quite a drastic effect .
I will try it with the big system as well , one can only do this when the membrane doesnt touch the felt but that speaks for it self .
One could also try 1 mm thick and 3 mm thick to hear the effect .
PS you also get the feeling of more bass because you tilt the response slightly in favour of the bassmid freq with a 2,5 / 2 way system
I had christiaan over yesterday from http://www.hifi-advice.com/blog/.
Well he liked the XPE speakers , but had the same complaints about the room /acoustics .
So they will go to his listening space for an extended period for a (proper )review .
Listened to his system today , he uses WP 8 speakers , sounds nice .
He s gonna get some ayon audio single ended monoblocs as well , i m curious how they will perform
Yes and its a nice acoustically treated space , but regarding the big boys which he will be listening to of next weekend , i think he s in for a blast , he might also be getting a pair of Giya 4 s to compare so it will be very interesting for me too see how my own designs hold up or surpass lol , regarding bass performance he doesnt know what he is getting yet
He has a movie projector as well , i asked him to watch avatar , all the sound effects are quit a challenge for a speaker
Well no proper review ,Christiaan called it of today , reason being they are too unknown ,high price are concerns and they are not easy to transport .
Shame as far as i am concerned , so they will go to Brussel after all,
Checking out some places to rent for work, they have a lot of typical 1900 s style buildings in the city , check this loft out with a curved brick ceiling ,i wonder how that will sound , i dont like a lot of dampening i like a lively sound.
Same as for speakers , i had a peep/look in the bass port of the WATT puppy 8 bass module , and its stuffed with dampening material , i dont like it , it goes against the XPE principle , " preserve energy" all the sound waves that are absorbed have vanished will never come back , plus it reduces overall efficiency , they become harder to drive
