How are "Audiophile remasters" different than a "regular" remasters? How is the process different?

Talking to Bernie Grundman, he told me that mastering engineers often feel compelled to change the sound because they feel that they are being paid to make a difference. However, it is often a bigger sin doing too much than doing too little. Audiophiles sometimes want so much done to the sound that the filters take away the emotion, excitement and life from the music.

Audiophile is only to blame for his/her lack of awareness to continue buying some of this crap but it's the label who's the client the one signing off on the remaster and farming out the production, responsibility is all theirs.
