I see these lists every year and wonder if the people making them still listen to any of the albums in five years.

I have or have played 6 of the 50. I will try a few more but many just aren't in genre that catches my attention.

I did yesterday and nearly had a heart attack. But then realized if I listen to more music, the heart attack may come later so I keep buying.

I saw Sufjan in the spring and fall in NC. Both were excellent, but the spring concert at DPAC was truly exceptional. Should be up for album of the year on many lists IMHO. America's best contemporary music composer, again IMHO

Your post made me look at some of his other work and I picked up Illinois and Michigan in addition to the one mentioned here. Really nice music although I was not fond of the super synthetic albums of his.

Agreed. Carrie and Lowell was stripped down and more to the original album in Durham (in the spring concert). Unfortunately, he added that synthesizer to a lot of the Charlotte concert, and yeah, not to my taste.
