And if one does not have time to discover preferences, what's the best way? watching videos?

Why assemble your own system when you can invite yourself to hear other people's systems and film them to watch later on YouTube? Besides, we all know natural sound can only be heard in the concert hall.

I think it’s brilliant?! Lots of staircase training between the record changes. A very good thing when you have no time to go the gym, due to 24/7 of hifi sessions. Ron’s legs is going to look like Tom Platz legs soon !!

I don't consider one short flight of stairs every 15 or 20 or 30 minutes to be a lot of exercise.

Why did you put your media storage on a different floor? Love your listening room.

Mainly because that is where the available space is. I actually love how the listening "room" is actually a "wing" of the house, encompassing three separate areas: listening room + adjacent equipment room + separate record/tape storage and cleaning area. I think being able to spread locationally the functions out like that is kind of luxurious.

How do you draw that line?

I am imagining that you heard one component that was very detailed, and another component that was emotionally-engaging, but you did not buy either of those. You found a component that somehow was in the middle? Is that how your decision process works?
