Yes, setting up a successful system is about the art of balancing, I agree.

Thank you. Given your experience, your opinions will certainly be worth paying attention to, also without absolutes.

Surely there are no absolutes, but in a thread about the Trinity we expect opinions about the Trinity and how to get the best sound from it, and interesting remarks about other products are welcome. And fortunately dealers, distributors and consultants are clearly identified in their signatures.

I will surely refrain commenting how good my DAC sounds on this thread - owners who paid for their own system are sometimes even more biased than dealers!

BTW, I have found that aggressive marketing is inversely proportional to market penetration and usually, real sound quality.

Guys, could you help Murat here? He is really struggling getting his Trinity to work through USB. SGM is an option, but not everyone is willing to spend this kind of money on a server. Any other options? Does Trinity work with any of the Linux based servers?

Hi!
I'm happy owner of Trinity DAC, but have a problem to find network streamer to connect through USB. I've tried Auralic and Sonore MicroRendu, but both doesn't work with Trinity. Only Aurender is working fine, but I don't like how Aurender App manages Tidal, so I'm looking for another player. Has anyone experience with network USB player connecting with Trinity ? Any suggestions ?

Murat, on audiogon you have highlighted a few changes to your system. Can you please tell us

1. Why did you replace Gryphon Colosseum with Tidal Impact
2. How were the Acoustic Systems liveline, did you find better cables?
3. You have been through many dacs - from Scarlatti stack to Lavry, think you also had the CEC and the MSB? Thoughts?

1. That was very old story. After all I completely switched to single ended tube amps. But as I remember, I was not happy with bass of Colosseum. Now my friend has Mephisto and looks like bass problem solved.
2. Liveline was good, but now I'm using Atlas Mavros cables. One friend recommended them to me and I found them very good and not playing with cables anymore.
3. Yes. DACs are my passion :) Few weeks ago I had a chance to compare Trinity with MSB Select II in my system and I can say that Select is the only DAC in the Trinity league. They are both providing true analogue sound!

Is this Murat's current speaker? If so, the system looks like it went from Gryphon with Gryphon speakers to Tidal pre...presumably then adding the Tidal Impact...now to 18 watt SETs with these mega horns?

Ok thanks. Nice horns especially if DIY. Are you in Russia, Murat?

Yes...and then 18watt SET is changed to 2watt SEP per each driver.

Nice to hear from you...i have enjoyed reading about your system and your adventures in high end audio for many, many years on Audiogon.

After many years of enjoying our current system (with no plans or desires to change at the moment)...i have to admit with the influence of Morricab, DDK, Steve, now yourself, Aries Cerat...I am certainly increasing my curiosity about high-sensitivity horns with high-quality class A SETs.

Horns and tubes...I never thought that I'll be there, but looks like the end of the road is in this direction :)
You know, Trinity DAC is perfect for me, because it has no transistors in the output stage! The second best DAC - MSB Select II, also has no transistors. That means something :)

i went to your thread link...i also saw (and remember) that at one point you also had a TDA1540 DAC. Our Zanden operates on a TDA1541 doublecrown chip which has some similarities. What was your TDA1540 DAC, and how does it compare with what you hear today with Trinity? (I also have a good friend who owns Trinity...and Zanden digital which i find interesting given all of the digital he could own.)

Yes, it was interesting story! When I realized, that transistor output stage of every DAC has bad influence to the sound, I've decided to experiment with some multibit chip and tube output stage. I have started with 1541, also found double crown, and with tube output stage it was really great DAC. Now this DAC is quite popular in Russia, because it is very easy to implement. 1540 sounded for me more analogue like and I've switched to it. But it is much more difficult to implement. But after all, they can't compete with Trinity. With Trinity I have no output stage at all. So, one amplification cascade less! And I feel that PCM1704 is better than TDA1541. And considering Lianotec and other know-how of Trinity, it is really unreachable quality.

Very very sad news, that 1704 is not in production anymore and Dietmar is going to stop production of Trinity. We all hope that next DAC will be better, but who knows.

Thanks for that. Enjoy and hope you will find some time to post more about your system as it continues to evolve...those speakers look like quite a lot of work went into them, not to mention investment. Fantastic.

Hi yes, heard the Gryphon Colosseum with the Pantheon at Oslo Hifi Center.

I am like you (almost), I will end up with SET+horns, or restored Apogees with class A SS. The horns will be made by someone DIY. If you ever are going to Milan or near Leipzig, let me know - I will put you in touch with a couple of horn stalwarts, one who owns the Yamamura in Milan.

Hello,

Coming from the Totaldac D1 Server, I have tested the 432EVO streamer and I am extremely pleased with it so I bought it. The designer is fanatical about electromagnetic radiation, tweaking and writing audio (treatment) software, creating and engineering streaming solutions.

You will find more info here: http://432evo.be/index.php/editions/432-evo-aeon

The biggest model, with all bells and whistles costs 5500 EUR retail. Including a CD rip facility, Roon ready, 2 TB of on-board storage (and of course plenty of off-board solutions), several dedicated linear power supplies, etc. A big hit in the Benelux region and looking to expand his market.

Software is Linux-based and does upsampling and DSD to PCM till 24/768 but the user can define an upsample rate anywhere between 16/44.1 and 24/768 depending on DAC capability and personal favourite.

It is not yet in my signature, but I now carry the brand as well in my portfolio.

Michel, that's a great price. Any possible compares to Aurender?

I got slouched on another thread because I related a comparison I did... so threading cautiously here and just say, it was tried and chosen against the W20 model amongst other. Mind you, I personally did not do that specific test but I know of others that did it.
