JV, any doubts about why this hobby is treated with such scorn by the mainstream? Any doubts that there is much truth to the premise that this hobby is littered with absolute anti social trolls, smug, arrogant, and snobby armchair engineers, and delusional self crowned experts?
No doubts! :(

Hello,

this one from SAC Germany " The Amplifer" makes every Speaker to his Slut;)
400 Watt pure Class A at 0,5 Ohm with Heat-Thiefprotection(100 Grad Celsius)....

http://images.google.de/imgres?imgu...ved=0ahUKEwi_-rPIpZ_JAhWFDSwKHQeBBPoQrQMIITAA

Sorry with long Link no other one available..

Best Regards,
Stephan

P.S Highendname "Tombstones";)

When I look at the link for 2010 it reads:

Ausgangsleistung: 95 Watt 8?, 180 Watt 4?, 320 Watt 2?

Here is another review also from a 2010:

http://www.mackern.de/index.php/2010/06/23/sac-meditore-the-amplifier-monos/
The lid is made of perforated sheet and fit otherwise to the complete form of the power amplifier. In addition, should be able to look into the distance from there the heat. What is sorely needed. The Monos are something of hot that I think fried eggs can be fried it. This is equivalent to a Class A amplifier of a heater should not be a secret. ,...............

Output Power: 95 Watt 8?, 180W 4?, 320W 2?

I just don't see the 400 Watt pure Class A at 0.5 Ohm remark in the article.

Need help spotting it.

And the best part?? I just make up listening impressions..right out of thin air!!!! Someone does "NOT BELIEVE" what I have to say about the sound. Boo Hoo..I am going to need therapy!:p
Therapy wouldn't hurt, but what you really need is some diapers to hold all your schlit in baby.

Andre - Let me address this.......

George - So what's it like having your nose so far up your own ass?

I've had it with you clowns.

[aside]There are a lot of reasons why this hobby is treated with scorn. From where I sit, we have the rejection of the scientific method, the arrogance and lack of humility and intellectual honesty of the self-proclaimed Golden Ears, and the creation of an ambiguous language full of adjectives which only mean something to its users, are 1, 1A and 1B. Oh, I forgot to add 1C, the charlatans and their sheep. [/aside]

I don't have to write, produce, direct or act in a pornographic film in order to know one when I watch it.

The Amplifer is tested in Geman Magazin "Stereoplay" 1988-90 with other Amps
Bartolomeo Referenza D100, T&A 3000m
I hope i can find the Test then i copy this to the Board.
Then you can see unbelievable Stability and Dampingfactor....

It never got off the ground. People were too eager to crap all over it.
It was unlikely such a little would elevate the level of debate ....

As you know, Johnny, audiophiles are experts on everything..they are electrical, mechanical, audio, recording, and mastering engineers.
They read the measurements in stereophile and bingo, that trumps years of successful product design.

You know, they also read medical journals and can do brain surgery while smoking a cigarette and watching the game. :D

These folks need an enemy. Last time it was Alex and John from UpTone audio, who legitimately were trying to offer a product to improve
digital USB audio. The way they were treated was beyond contempt.

This is the mark of an insecure, self loathing group mentality. Make no mistake.

My answer to you is the amplifier drove difficult loads with ease, running cool, with tremendous dynamics.
Thank you for the follow up on my question Andre. Unfortunately there is still little answer in what you write here. Instead of writing a long technical response :), let me present this video review of your Maggie .7 loudspeaker. Despite being a subjective review, it is right on point in this regard and how you can tell insufficient amplification for your loudspeakers:

The point is in the first 5 minutes and completely matches the experience I shared with them including the Carver amp!!!

This is the process I had hoped you would go through to determine the power capability of the amp. Knowing what to listen for and then seeing if this specific amplifier does the job or not. Ron in that video is right on the money on that front. And leaves me little to criticize even though the review is all subjective.

Let me give a shoutout to the review web site for a job well done by Ron Brenay at https://www.newrecordday.com

There is a lot more to this technically but as I said, I will leave it with this part for now.

amir i shared this video over a month ago on the Hoffman forum. I have spoken with Ron. You are very presumptuous. The "need for power"
element of this video was hammed up for dramatic effect. I can promise you he did not need 400 wpc to drive the speakers correctly. They are sitting
in my living room right now. I also heard them at the dealer with 75 wpc of tube power and that worked just fine, but not at the top of the volume range.

Andre I am going to ask you to stay with the title and technical nature of the thread you created. You need to take the high road as a person posting under your real name and professional affiliation to say nothing of violating our terms of service. We provide exceptional leeway to our senior members but this needs to be the end of the road.

The high road? You jest. That road was dug up long ago. The way Alex was treated was beyond contempt by the wolf pack, and why should I expect any better.

You have a quote from Ron saying he "hammed up for dramatic effect?" And yes, I know you saw this video as I did a search and you had post it here: http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?18680-Maggie-7-REALLY-needs-400-wpc-plus. Plenty of people here and elsewhere have attested to need for lots of power with this loudspeaker. Do you have an explanation for that?

That aside, how much power do they need in your opinion? And how did you determine that? Where the other amps you used in the power department insufficient before you got this one? Or where they all sufficient? I am looking for the kind of detail and insight that was provided in that review. Exact records used to play. Exact artifacts honed in. Changes with amps going up and down the scale. Do you have anything like this to share with us?
