Its interesting that on this site there is not much talk about music, or perhaps people are not interested in jazz.

There, I think it is the jazz thread that has more 'views' than any other, contributions also, but mostly from less than dozen members in any given time. On the other hand, from info published by record companies, jazz sales are about 4% of all music sold, so I am not surprised. I do not want to sound pretentious, but I find it funny that many people are so preoccupied with 'sound' and gear and much less with music. Personally I see no point in 'hi fi' outside of classical or jazz (or unamplified music in general) Of course only imho, as its a 'free country'...

This was just being discussed in another thread. There are many reasons why people are interested in hifi, and there will always be someone out there that will have more experience/knowledge in music, so it is all relative.

Are you referring to the sound of the video? Always good to know the version of any given album that is recommended.

@Rexp , No, I was talking about actual cd album that I have. Its published on V.S.O.P. records (10 cd tampa 28 from) 1989.
You can find all editions on Discogs site, check for master release.
Given the year its recorded and issued on cd, it sounds fine

@No Regrets , again, it sounds really good. I see Bel Canto set, cant recognize the other stuff in the dark, but considering the size of those towers (if music is played on them and on those smaller speakers?) , it seems they are very well suited in that room. I always had fear of big speakers and their interactions within smaller rooms, but it looks that you did it quite good there.

@alexatpos Thank you so much for your very kind words about the sound that I am getting from my audio system. You mentioned because the video is dark, it's difficult to see what all comprises my audio system. I will try and attach some better lit pictures with descriptions so that you can have a better idea of my components.




Above is a picture of my audio system. It really is kind of like two audio systems all in one listening room.
My reference speakers are the tall Dunlavy SCIV Signatures.
They stand 72" tall, 12" wide, 18" deep in a complete sealed cabinet with no ports. They weigh 180 lbs each.
They are 91dB sensitive and a very flat roughly 5 Ohm load which makes them very easy to drive.
These reference speakers are driven by my Bel Canto SET40 with utilize a single 845 Single Ended Triode per channel.

The smaller speakers are vintage original Wharfedale W60's. They were made in Great Britain back around 1960. They are two-way speakers utilizing Alnico drivers. There spec's are as follows...
They require very little power to be driven and are an excellent match with single ended tube amplifiers.
Low frequency driver: 12.5 inches with 2 inch voice coil and cloth suspension.
High frequency driver: 4.5 inch dual-cone
Impedance: 8 ohms
Maximum power handling: 60 watts (30 watts continuous)
Minimum power requirement: 5 watts
Dimensions: (H) 24 x (W) x 14 x (D)13 inches
Weight: 50 pounds each speaker
(including 6.5 pounds of sand as their back panel is sand-filled)
These wonderful vintage smaller speakers are driven by my custom built EL84 push/pull power amp that gives me some of the most dynamic and amazingly beautiful roughly 14 watts per channel.

What I love about how I have my system set up is that I can use both of my sources: turntable/phono amp and transport/dac and line preamplifier with both sets of power amplifiers and speakers!
This is because my preamplifier has two sets of outputs. So I run one set of outputs to my Single Ended 845 amp to drive my reference Dunlavy SCIV Signature loudspeakers and the second set of outputs to my Custom EL84 amp to drive my vintage Wharfedale speakers.
I never run both sets of speakers at the same time. Nor do I run both amplifiers at the same time. I just simply power up whichever amplifier I want to listen to and I don't have to rewire anything

Top right is my wall mounted Linn LP12 in a Brazilian Rosewood custom plinth, Naim Aro Tonearm, Benz Zebrawood Ruby S-Class cartrigde.

On the wooden cabinet top shelf. Jay's Audio dedicated cd transport; Bel Canto SET 40 amplifier to drive the Dunlavy's; Wavestream Kinetics Deluxe Reference Level 5.1 vacuum tubed phono stage giving me roughly 62dB of pure tube gain.

Middle shelf: Mojo Audio Mystique 24 AM R2R dac; Custom passive attenuator (not currently in use); old turntable DC power supply (not in use); DC power supply for my LP12.

Bottom shelf: My custom EL84 amp for driving my vintage Wharfedale speakers; my beloved dual mono vacuum tubed linestage from First Sound Presence Audio; vintage Hirata Tango step up transformers (not currently in use); Artemis Labs Ph-1 all vacuum tubed MM phono stage that gives me roughly 50dB of pure tube gain.
