The Marvin Gaye Collection in DSD64.

Contains some of the older tracks like the duets with Tammi Terrell. There seems to be a little gap in the quality of the recording of these tracks and later ones, which is expected.

Other than that, this is a great collection to listen to, especially with native DSD into my SET Tube amp: as with many Motown songs, there is a lot of stellar percussive, drum and bass performance which makes for the groovy Motown sound.

"I Heard it through the Grapevine" is a great example of that, the interplay of percussive elements, the bass and the drums all impart a lot of rhythmic flow to a song which is in itself not a very fast one. Marv's vocals leads soulfully among all this and the keyboard and string arrangements.

"What's Going On" is another example of great percussive elements wound with an intricate bass work. Fantastic.

And if you want a third take of more of the same greatness, there is the smooth "Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)" right after.

The 'Detroit Mixes' of these last two (not on this collection) makes the percussive elements more prominent. This collection also conspicuously lacks 'Sexual Healing'.

High-res really brings to attention the drum performance in "Let's Get It On" too.

On "Distant Lover", the mid-range is filled with little guitar and percussive elements, which on DSD, are revealed and give an all new perspective on the nature of the song. Never heard it that way, with a shuffle rhythmic bed and many, many other sounds throughout.
