Hi, I’ve just got on loan a Venom NR-V12 power cable and also a NR-V10. I don’t think I will have the time to try properly on all my gear, and I don’t want to buy more cables than I need, so I am wondering if I should expect the V10 to at least match the V-12 if not better it with source gear.

The V10 is 10 awg the V12 is 12 awg. The smaller the awg the better. The V10 is twice the conductor size of the V12. So, the V10 is the better one. Maybe you got your cables mixed up?

Either way, the V10 will be better, even on source gear.

You need the best Shunyata power cable you can afford on every piece of gear you have. Don’t degrade your system by trying to save a few dollars.

Thanks. I did understand which cable was which in terms of awg. I was merely trying to determine whether promotion of the smaller gauge as suitable for source equipment indicated possible scenarios where smaller qauge could be better than larger gauge. Your reply adds reassurance to my own early impressions that the V10 is the better cable generally.

I recently bought a Venom NR12. It's a very nice cable, especially for the reasonable price. I have it hooked up (with an adapter) to my Apple TV 4K. It replaced an AQ NRG 1.5. So far, the picture quality is more lifelike and simply looks better!

In my experience even with source equipment larger wire gauge is always preferable.
