Ref330m's incoming

I've placed my order for Ref330m's to replace my Ref160m's to power my Alexx. Any other owners here, and what has your experience been?

I have Shunyata Sigma X QR power cords to use on them, which have really impressed me on the Ref160m. I also have HifiStay springy footers which have also impressed me and plan to use as well.

In addition I was informed that E83CC red base high grade tube is a nice upgrade, supposedly that idea comes from ARC insiders. I bought a pair of those to try.

congrats Marc, i know these beauties have been on your radar for awhile, and i'm very happy for you to have pulled the trigger. cannot wait to hear them singing in your system. did read JVS's review and he was over the moon about them. and his system has similar speakers to yours.

Congratulations Marc on the impending arrival of the new amps!

Sounds like there are possibilities for tube rolling and good experimentation in the future,......after the amps are fully broken in and you get to experience the 330Ms in all their glory!

I may have to ping you for a visit when I’m up in Seattle next. I loved my 160s. And, I used them with some older gen1 Alexia, so I’m pretty familiar with the ‘Wilson’ sound. (Of course, that was a while back and I know the sound has matured since then.) would love to hear what another few years of development has yielded.

Of course you can visit any time (with a heads up!)

My Wilsons are original Alexx so not too far removed tweeter-and-midrange-wise from the Alexia. Newer models with the CSC tweeter and the Quadramag midrange do sound quite different.

Congrats on the 330m's! I just received my pair about a month ago. They replaced my 160m MkII's. After about 100 hours of listening, I can tell you that the 330M's are incredible, and the 160m MKII's are no slouch either. The 330m's are a significant step up with more dynamics, bass control, and openness. The noise floor is lower and the detail, especially with instruments in the back of the soundstage have more detail, texture and nuance than before. Initially I thought the 330 m's were a bit brighter than the 160 m Mk II's but with a few hours of play this settled nicely. Everything with the 330m's is more open, transparent and dynamic than with the 160's. I think you will be very pleased!
