Hi, I know this will be a very basic question for most.

I have a ShureSM58 with a 20ft lead. I move around a lot while singing and the wire gets more and more tangled even within half an hour of starting. This has always been the case but just recently the mic has been cutting out OFTEN. I take it this is due to being tangled/knotting - but how come this hasn't ALWAYS happened? I have bought new leads and the same thing happens. When it cuts out if i press the end of the lead into the end of the mic, sound usually returns but i can't add pressure like that for a whole gig.

Could it be the Shure SM58? (about 6 years old)

Any thoughts appreciated!
