Kept seeing this community in my searches for information regarding analog and simply decided that as a neophyte who is just trying to start to enjoy vinyl records I have collected over time, I should join and learn! So, here I am. I still do not have a preamp that would allow me to adjust resistance so I simply set up the carts using a Technics overhang gauge, adjust the VTF and set my tonearm. I enjoy each and every record I try with the different cartridges - some of them are quite enjoyable to my ears.

Lee,
Thanks very much. I only picked up the turntable last January and it had this AT12Sa cart on it and then this whole thing has expanded. I am really just trying out my carts before embarking on my copying project. Eventually I will have the TT hooked up into my home system so that I can hear what some of the LP's sound like through more capable speakers. Right now my "sound room" is a spare basement bedroom so I can listen to them using my hard camping chair situated between the book shelf speakers that were loaned to me. I have the TT on an old oak triple dresser and one speaker is on a window ledge and the other is 'mounted" at about the same height on a group of cardboard boxes. This allows me to have my dedicated computer and 1.5 terabyte hard drive in front of me on a camping table I borrowed from my wife. This way there is no external sound sources impinging on the TT. Anyway, it is an enjoyable start but I wish I could find out more about two of my cartridges (Sonus Gold Blue and Sonus DImension 5) than is currently available on Vinylengine. I am in the process of mounting the Gold Blue and have only played one record on the Dimension 5 as I am also getting used to a few Empire cartridges and my only Grado (Prestige Gold).
Thanks for the welcome!

Ron:)

You can add resistors externally.

Actually In my ARC Sp-9 I soldered them acroos the inside of the phono jack.
