Looking for recommendations on top notch amplifier stands for the VAC 450 IQ mono blocks. My 450’s are sitting on hardwood floors between the speakers. What works without dulling the sound of these magnificent amps?

thanks

Thank you!
I wonder what your new Sensei has to say about those SRA platforms...

I think I can imagine his opinion quite well  :D

Tell me what you imagine it to be, pot-stirrer.

PS - I bet you're wrong.
Wow
Your first, unedited answer was a lot friendlier.
What happened in between the original answer and the edited one?

Why not let David answer for himself?

??? what because I called you pot-stirrer? That seems rather mild - I mean no offense to you - I could have included a smilie. I said that because I thought the OP is looking for suggestions for his amps, not debate on my system.

I said I bet you are wrong because I have known David (and Lamm) to use SRA stands. Granted they are not his Nothing Racks, one person can lift one.

I doubt David has reason to look at this thread as before now the only reference was sensei. You addressed to me which is why I responded to you. You could have asked him yourself. Here - @ddk

Sensei is kind of derogatory so you shouldn't mind getting a sharp response in return but it's all in good spirit; I hope! :)

Generally I don't make random equipment recommendations to people I don't know,. @tima is correct I use an original set of SRA amp stands from 20 years ago and like them. @gestalt is the right person to contact for the new models.

You really need to consider budget. And how you want to shape the voice. I have no experience with stands, but my guess is some will bring rich and full. Others maybe clean and clear. Also consider your speaker bases. Are they feeding into the floor where you may be getting a distortion from the tubes in the VAC vibrating in sympathy to the speaker cabinet.

I bring this up as I stalled out on a new rack when I started considering this all. I could not find an engineered stand to fit my space. That left a decorative heavy wood piece. Rhapsody told me.to consider something such as wood because they work, look nice and are very budget friendly.

Maybe ask kevin at VAC, what they suggest.

Thanks for your answer, David.

Firstly, I deliberately googled Sensei, NOT to use it the wrong way and it says Master of a School/Style and that is faaaar from derogatory, at least for my understanding.

Secondly, iIrc, I read somewhere here of WBF, that you don't recommend any footers or weights of any kind to use with the Lamm gear.

I always liked your postings quite a lot and I also gave you a lot of "likes" in the past but that increasing use of "we" and "them" is imho not very constructive and I don't mean you alone, this comes from quite a few people here on WBF and the discussions become more and more hairsplitting and people become more and more defensive and thin skinned, sometimes even aggressive.

And again I don't mean you alone with that but more the "culture" of discussion that is evolving here on WBF lately.

Sorry to put my rant into an answer to you but I needed to get this off my chest.

I'm sorry, I derailed your thread unintentionally.
I hope you find a good solution for your problem.

Star Sound Technology has been around for quite some time and offers a range of highly praised and effective audio equipment platforms for individual amplifiers/components. They have a fairly broad price range.

Hi Christoph,
It's fine no problem with anything :)! I don't recommend that stuff for any electronics including Lamm. You're right that I would be skeptical of most racks, many of them work by deadening or absorbing energy which is fine when it's even and minimized but unfortunately most of the ones I hear have gone too far. The prominent effect is a slight thickening of the mid and upper bass region that upon first listening sounds like an improvement to most people but for me it's a coloration and the more of said products in a system the stronger the coloration, it's why I built The Nothing racks and platforms but it's not a commercial product and only limited to AS2000 customers.
