I think if you are a dipole convert then going full dipole is a given - just for the uniformity of full range sound reacting with the room . I have seen mention of folks taking the back out of the driver and loading the rear with different shapes on DIY sites but not seen any implementations, a fully symmetrical dipole horn for upper frequencies is something I have wondered about for a while - using 2 fancy CD's would be very spendy and the traditional dipole response would make the crossover more complex - I suspect it would have to be DSP
Like you I would be interested to see an example of such a speaker

I heard this speaker, amazing energetic sound really good, that why i'm build my own open baffle with back open horn driver.
With a open driver sonds like electrostatic speaker much more details and real open sound.
the spatial representation of the music gets wider and deeper, you have to have space minium on back wall 1.0- 1.3m then works really good.
At first I worked with wood to hold the diaphragm in place, it didn't work well as the distortion in the sound increased. then i tried it with aluminum plate, much better and cleaner in sound. no fear aluminum is non-magnetic at room temperature.

You might want to start a thread on your speakers and open baffle horns, a lot of people might be interested This thread is about Diesis speakers, which are not open baffle horns. Best regards.

Diesis Roma Triode is finished, will break in at Diesis for two weeks and then will ship to the DFW Rhapsody Listening Room.

Back in early 2019 my sweet wife did worse than the covid, on a trip to NYC for some training, she blew-out her appendix, waited 3 days to brew up a healthy dose of peritonitis, then finally went to urgent care—they promptly sent her to NYU-Langone where she spent several days in intensive care and several more recovering. I flew out to be with her but of course there is only so much sitting around watching someone be sick a person can tolerate. I visited Bonnie @ SoundSense, who engineered the acoustic remodel of my room, then paid a visit to Bob @ Rhapsody.

It was a social visit—yes, I wanted to hear some music to get a fix, but it wasn't an audition kind of visit, just listen to some music and tongue-wag. Bob played music through some Goldmund speakers (very nice) then switched cables and hooked up a pair of Diesis “Roma.“ We chatted a bit more and then I started paying attention to the music. There was an ease and flow that was hard to ignore... I was drawn in. I had little experience with horns before, and none with an open baffle design. The room was filled with music in an easy, effortless way. My Wilson's, in comparison, seemed tightly bound as if they had to force the sound out.

I've written before about the experience. I came home (my wife none to happy about the new object-of-desire) and I couldn't stop hearing the Roma's in my head. It wasn't terribly long after my acoustic remodel, so the Minister of Finance (MOF) was not keen to my buying any new speakers. I told the members of the Portland Audio Club about my experience, and how I wished I could have shared what I heard with all of them. For me it was an ear-opening experience. In this hobby, you just don't know what you haven't heard.

As the damn covid worked its way through the population, and the lockdowns broke the back of many small businesses, I noticed Bob @ Rhapsody seemed to be prospering. I told my wife he was branching out, opening listening rooms across the country (but none on the west coast). My wife says "you should do that". Whats that you say? Are you serious? I thought maybe she'd opened a bottle and not told me—got a head-start on the evening. So I sent an email to Bob saying he needs an RLR on the west coast, say maybe, Portland? Bob replies back positively and after a week of anxious debate (and review of the retirement accounts) the MOF says yeah, go for it.

So here we are, and my custom Roma are nearly ready to ship. I am so very excited to hear these in my room. Mine are a little bit bespoke, the leather wrap isn't standard on the Roma, only the Triode model. A nice gesture from Giuseppe.

Of course, once things are setup and have had some time to settle/burn in, my first thoughts will be how do these compare to my prior Wilson Alexia, which I had for almost seven years? Everything will be different as the ARC REF10 preamp and REF160 monos are now gone too, and mighty Pilium Alexander and Achilles take their place. All solid state vs. my tube rig, and twice the power! I wish my pockets were deeper and I could have tried the Pilium with the Wilsons I'm sure they'd have played well together. Wilsons are not shy about sucking up the power and only seem to get better when fed generously. But to add Pilium, Alsyvox, Diesis, and Bayz meant the prior rig had to go.

Stay tuned... it is going to be a fun summer here in Oregon City. Lascia che i bei tempi scorrano! (that's an Italian translation for "let the good times roll")

Presentation - presentation - presentation.
Investing in the flight cases is a pittance compared to the price of the speakers - BUT - the presentation on arrival compared to cardboard or cheap HD boxes - in my opinion - makes a world of difference. Well done Diesis Audio - you guys get it.

Agreed, especially coming from Euro to the States. Pilium, Diesis, Alsyvox and Bayz ALL use heavy duty flight cases. We have never had any shipping damage. Knock on wood:)

Sorry but who gives you the right to tell anybody how and where to comment on an open public forum? Being a reseller of the brand and not the original op, I believe you should be much more careful and tolerant. I am curious about what DasguteOhr has adressed, and so seems two posters who raised him a question.

If you read through the 77 posts on this thread they were entirely about Diesis speakers. Then open baffle horns were introduced into the thread. It was a "suggestion", as I said, to start a thread on open baffle horns. I actually would be interested in hearing and discussing OB horns and I think a lot of others would be as well. Although interested parties would not easily stumble on an open baffled horn discussion, that was buried in a thread that had 97% Diesis content.

Ok but still think tolerance is better. Being an owner of Magico A5, I enjoyed your comments on this speaker, and I am offered a chance to buy a Diesis Caput Mundi at a nice price, thats why I was reading this whole 77 post thread.

Nevertheless, would be pleased to know how you compare A5 to Caput Mundi, if that is not a politically sensitive topic for you (representing both brands) or you find it off topic. I did not listen to Caput Mundi, hence the question.

It's a tough one to comment on as I could live happily with either of them. They are very different sounding speakers of course. The bass especially is SO different in the Diesis OB speakers vs. the A5/sealed cabinet. Both speakers sound VERY OPEN.

The A5's are $25K and the CM's are $60K (retail). There would be those that would take the A5's over the CM, but then some would take the CMs over the A5s. The fact that the A5 is $25K competes with the $60K CM is saying something about the A5s value.

I love the Diesis speakers for all kinds of reasons. BUT I routinely tell people that the A5's compete with any other speakers that I have in my possession. It comes down to personal preference, but the A5s for me are a real over achiever.
