* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

WBF ?
The Usual Suspects. Never get tired of this movie.

What I exactly meant was that the movie critics here at WBF don't automatically represent the popularity of those films at the box-office.
...Like some intelligent flicks we really like simply don't do well at the box-office (earnings and all).
And other films that are very popular (making $billions) are not necessarily films that we are proudly fond of.

* 'The Usual Suspects'; I luv it! ...Directed by Bryan Singer. ...Got the Blu.

** 'RockNRolla' was just OK in my book (got the Blu too). ...But I do like some of Guy Ritchie's flicks ('Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Snatch' for example).

Got it now. I enjoyed those other two as well once I got used to Brad Pitt's speech pattern on Snatch. And those happen to be all the one's he wrote. I never saw the one with Madonna and doubt I ever will.

Last night I started watching and listening to this ::

* Give me some time before I submit my final judgement, as it is over 480 minutes long.
{Now I know few, at least one, who are/is going to complain here ;) }

James Cameron's sequel to 'Alien'. ...It's ok, but nothing like the original.
Furthermore, for me it totally lacks panache and original imagination. ...But that's me. :b

There Will Be Blood.

Now here's a great flick that I love with passion!

One of the few sequels I prefur over the original. I enjoyed Alien too but thought Cameron hit it out of the park with Aliens. Really good on the big screen in 70mm the first time I saw it.

For me a good horror/sci-fi flick is one build on tension, and the less guns the better.

Another fun one from Cameron '' The Abyss "". Also enjoyed the extra's on the DVD on how it was filmed.

I'm still waiting for that one to be released on Blu-ray.
...Perhaps in the spring of 2014, but I wouldn't hold my breath; make that next summer, at best, as Mr. James Cameron is a very busy man with other matters on his mind right now.

Not on disc, but caught this on Netflix. '' Birdmen: The Original Dream Of Flight ''. About basejumpers wearing winged suits gliding hi-speed just over the ground. Talk about Extreme Sports.

Checked out "Life of Pi" DVD from library. Surprised both my wife and I, we both liked it a lot. I had low expectations. Gorgeous film making and cinematography. The story was quite reasonable as well.books.jpeg

I hope it comes on HBO or STARZ in 3D, I will watch it again with Sony OLED 3D glasses.

Carl, I found it ('Life of Pi') even more immersing in 3D. ...Great cinematography, indeed. ...And a marvelous message.
