* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

Same here Davey; I like that flick a lot ('Cloud Atlas') ...I viewed it three times already. ...Or was it four? ...And more to come. :b

* Did you watch it on DVD or Blu-ray or some other medium?
Bob, I saw it on Blu-Ray. Apparently this movie was panned by the critics. Most writing it was too long and they didn't like the plot and general make-up of the movie. I couldn't disagree more.
I will definitely be watching it again, something that I cannot say for most movies.

Critics? ...The best critic is you! ...Your own eyes, ears, mind, heart, and soul. :b

'Cloud Atlas' is well constructed for the message it wants to convey, period! ...And that message is awesome, IMO.
They used different time periods, related to each other, and from a great technical team of directors, artists, cinematographers, music composers, thinkers, actors, decors, and all that great jazz.
That is first class entertainment in my book.

Impressions please.

It's a slow and dark movie about the WWII resistance in France. The characters have few frills, just perform their duties and are all signed by the one security they know: that the inevitable death is lurking. You can literally feel the emotions and fear of these characters. The mood is perfectly set by long, silent takes, a stark color palette, sparse matching and ominous music and a lot of silences. Was blown away by it, very recommendable.

Terrible movie. Stopped watching after 30 minutes, couldn't stand it anymore. No chemistry at all between the Wahlberg, Johnson and Mackie.

I watched a violent film last night (mayhem at 'Olympus'), on Blu-ray. ...With Gerard Butler in it (I like him), and Morgan Freeman (I like him too).

My take? ...Skip it. ...Just check the real news instead, in Egypt...

I revisited this sci-fi flick last night ::

* On Blu of course, with a picture quality of the first order, and a top-notch musical score (soundtrack).
The film itself? ...From me, recommended viewing. ...Replay value? ...It depends of our mood, I guess.
And for some once is enough, and for others multiple is still rewarding. ...Take your side, be happy of who you are, and among all others. :b
- Personally I'm glad to own it, and I know that eventually I'll re-watch it again. But that's me, and only me.

Some music recordings we listened to for hundred times, or so. ... John Coltrane ....
Some movies we watched a dozen of times, or so. ... 'Lawrence of Arabia' ....

Last night I revisited this great Snowboarding Documentary, with amazing moving pictures quality.
...If you like snow, mountains, danger (living on the edge; cliffs, snow avalanches, rocks, flying high up in the air while doing somersaults on your snowboard, and much more), beautiful aerial shots (scenery) of very high definition, gorgeous locales (some of them I've been myself; British Columbia), great alternative music (well recorded and enveloping); I highly recommend it, again.
