* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

Watched this last night. Great special effects, BUT the plot and the acting left a lot to be desired.:( View attachment 10003

Yes Davey; films can do that sometimes to you! ...Often. :b

* What was the latest flick that you saw and that you enjoyed? ...Good storyline (plot) and good acting.

=> Last night I watched 'Cleopatra' (Part Two), with Elizabeth.
- The Blu-ray quality (visuals & sound) were the best I've seen yet from this flick.
As for the 'plot' and the acting; well, it's an older flick, and depicting a very old story (completely opposite to a science-fiction), and I thought that it represented Hollywood and all that jazz at its very best. ;)
- Is it Cinematic art to build cardboard buildings, and wardrobe so colorful? ...Plus the Hollywood actors and actresses of course, with their totally convincing performances (accurate to a teeth ;)), and with their very rewarding salaries.
{The history behind that flick, and Elizabeth and Richard, is quite something! ...The money, and the prestige ...}

...Not quite 'Lawrence of Arabia'. ;)

Django Unchained - QT's usual unusual take on a period time slice. I liked it especially Waltz, completely diff from his earlier win in IB'd and an almost unrecognizable Samuel L in both look and demeanor. He steals the show.

* Christoph Waltz. :cool:

Watched IDENTITY with John Cusack on Bluray the other night. Boy, this is one 'thinking caps' movie. Thrilling suspense but the story line can make you think hard.

Can you believe it! ,,, I fell asleep (in 3D) again! /// About half way through this time.

Must have some to do with my limited 'dream power'. ...I do have a cold that I'm still fighting.

'A Bad Day to Die Hard'

Any good?" NO! Entertaining? YES [marginally] (but then I am easily entertained)

Then rent it and check the unbelievable mayhem; the car/truck chase with complete disbelief and destruction.
Turn your surround sound system to Reference level (0 dB THX certified), and get assaulted by special effects created and that don't match reality at all, even less the action onscreen, but only screams at you from all directions to an irritating and culminating point. ...That should keep you entertained if you don't forget to leave your brain outside your door during that time period.

And don't look into any intelligent acting here; you won't find any.

Any good? NO, not in my book of the greatest and fulfilling flicks.
You know what? You'll be only watching it to confirm my already expressed impression.

Let me add this too: I know exactly what you mean by "entertaining", well, for me the entertainment in that one, at the time, from my mood, was exactly like I described it already. ...Don't go there, or be ready to accept the consequences of painful entertainment. Are you masochist? ...Then by all means watch it. ...Hope that helps you to make your final decision (I just know that you're gong to watch it anyway).

I had watched it prior to posting. My wife and I both thought it was brainless entertainment. There has never been anything believable in any of this series of movies so why would I expect this to be any less brainless. But it was still fun.

It's funny; because I thought of that, that you'd already watched it.

"Fun" is a thing of the moment. ...Sometimes your predisposition put you in the mood of fun acceptance (agreement), other times it doesn't.
That's why you can never relate from other people's own vision to make your own predisposed mood of that moment in time & space.
And no two people are predisposed the same at the same time and in the same room.
But nonetheless it is 'fun' to talk about and give our own personal impression, and 'fun' to read other's ones. :b

True, the 'Die Hard' series is over-the-top (unrealistic) action movies.
..."Divertissement". ...Diverting (distraction) from reality (entertainment a la Hollywood FOX style).

But! The first Die Hard was 'funnier' and better (in my book of 'dreams'). I also liked the third and fourth one.
I totally dislike the second and fifth one (this last one). ...That's my personal take according to my own personal taste.
And the five of them are all over the top, but the script in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th; I found them more 'fun' and entertaining.
...Easier to follow with my brain, sort of. :b

* 'Oz the Great and Powerful - 3D'? ...Picture & sound are superlatively superb.
The 3D overall impact is one of the best!

BUT! The storyline is nothing to compare with the original OZ.
...And you might find yourself bored by some of the acting here and there.
If you look beyond the essence, you'll get a pretty 3D moving picture with great sound. ...Is that what movies are all about?
...Not in Bob's book, no that's not.

- One last note, make sure your display is well calibrated if you don't want to see those colors all over the map in 3D.

* I kind of knew it but I still did it! ...Jason Bourne (Jeremy Renner) should have known better! :D
...Kids' stuff, and the 3D is sub-par.

But hey, when you are Jason Bourne from 'The Bourne Legacy', or that spy from 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol',
or the thief in 'The Town', or that 'crazy & courageous' guy from 'The Hurt Locker', or that superhero from 'The Avengers';
in Hollywood you can also afford to be Hansel. ;)
