* Did you watch a film last night (on Blu or DVD), and what was it? *

Last night :: Revisited :: 3D Version :::

* One of my very favorite animations by a true genious, Tim Burton!
...And nowadays I'm right in the moody mode. ...Pumpkin. :b

And if you don't have that Blu-ray title yet in your collection, get it; the price is great right now.
...And you'll thank me later; it is amazing on the screen, both visually and sound.
And the 2D version is even better (also included in that 3-disc set from Disney).

* I luv this flick! :cool: ...It is excellent, all the way! ...The script writing, the story, the voices, and the technical aspects are all superb!

And I totally disagree with that reviewer's take on the film itself (by clicking on the above picture cover you can read his full review).

Just a click ^ away, and a MUST HAVE Blu-ray title in any collection of serious cinema aficionados.
...And very inexpensive to purchase now (only $4.99 at Best Buy).
...And replay value is 100% through the roof, each and every single time. :b

* It was OK, no more no less. ...It's a character study driven type of flick, plus ...
And if you feel inspired by the picture cover, you can always click on it.

* Perhaps (I am 100% certain) it would have been much better for me to go to the Theater and see 'Skyfall'. :b

And by the way, the 3D version of this flick ain't great at all; and it would be tough for me to rewatch it again, but this time in 2D. ...Eventually.
And I totally disagree with the reviewer's take (just click on the picture cover), regarding the movie and the special effects (CGI) and all that mickey mouse fake jazz. ...Kids stuff (games). :b

Last night :: The 2D version ::

* I watched the 2D version this time around; much better than the 3D one.
I enjoyed it, for what it is. ...But the CGI effects aren't my bowl of soup still.

Watched "Sanctum" 3D on HBO On Demand with Sony OLED 3d glasses. James Cameron's real life horror story about deep cave diving in a massive sink hole on an island in New Guinea.

It has all of the cave stuff, kind of like "Descent" without the blind humanoid monsters, just the real human monsters of terror, claustrophobia excruciating injury and death in the bowels of the earth, and the disintegration of ethics (and its opposite, the elevation of ethics) that you see in many of the "spam in a can" type films, only these are based on a true story. The film really makes you feel the crushing, relentless danger of the environment and the frailty of the human ants.

I have to admit, I found the movie so hard to watch that I had to view it in segments because it made me queasy. However, the magnificent scenery and astounding underwater/underground sequences are both gorgeous as well as difficult to watch during the struggle of the protagonists, especially in 3D.

Recommended for when you are feeling a bit of grit and are in a large, open space in which you can breathe easy.
