I would like to buy in future a very good tonearm, not very very expensive,to put on AF3P for Coralstone Diamond.
Which do you suggest?
I have Saec 506 on Torqueo, but need one for AF3P

Ikeda,FR,Groove Master or Thales,Graham Elite,and similar?

Thanks

Dear Gian,

perhaps being the user with the least of experience here, I would suggest you to consider the Kuzma 4P too.
i am aware of many successful results with this combo.

Also I can assure you on the very precise and repeatable adjustments of this Tonearm as well as the high construction quality and functionality.

I hope all is well.

I am assume u are referring to Koetsu Coralstone diamond?
Koetsu tends to prefer heavier arms. EMT 997 and Schroder arms maybe worth considering. Also FR 66s and ikeda 407.

I have heard coralstone on SME V, koetsu arm, Ikeda 407 and kuzma 4p. It sounded poor on all compared to how various koetsus sounded on fr64 or FR 66s (though I did not hear the coralstone on them, but did hear jade with diamond cantilever, urushi, black, and onyx). Also heard onyx and rosewood platinum on Reed 3p and rosewood on SME 3012r. Even the low priced black on the fr64 sounded better than a koetsu on a non FR arm.

I had in 2007/8 around Graham 2.2 with Jade Itoigawa, and i remember a good match

I have Koetsu arm SA 1100MKVII,but i don't like and want to sell

Could be good with FR66 but difficult to find, too expensive for his real value, and difficult to find in perfect condition

I had my blue lace on a triplanar tone arm which sounded excellent. As always though it’s personal preference and taste. Buy what you prefer not someone‘s opinion.

How will he know what he prefers without listening to it? He already owns many arms on which he has tried/can try and doesn't like it, except SAEC

How about the new Glanz arms?
I think Jürgen/shakti bought Glanz because he wasn't able to find an FR arm for a decent price iIrc

I went through this very same evaluation process a couple of years ago when I acquired my Coralstone (non-diamond) and Jean Nastais' Lenco Reference Mk III turntable. I ultimately selected the Kuzma 4P based on research and discussion directly with Jean and the Kuzma distributor. I also have a Koetsu Azule mounted on an early 12" Reed 2A and a Dobbins 301. This particular arm has enough mass to accommodate the Azule.

Research and discussion with kuzma distributor resulted in kuzma as the conclusion?

I sold my coralstone platinum signature after comparing it Lyra atlas, shelter harmony, and vdh colibri (old model, not Stradivarius) on the kuzma 4p at dctom's

the new last year gimbal bearing Durand Tosca handles the 16 gram Ortofon MC Anna Diamond and the 16 gram Clearaudio GFS perfectly. i've not heard it with a Koetsu stone body but would expect it would be excellent.

not cheap, but not crazy expensive either.

it's also fantastic with my Etsuro Gold.

The Coralstone is definitely great in a Fidelity Research FR64 tonearm. But I would say could be even better in a Glanz MH-124s tonearm.
I have FR64s and Glanz side by side on my AF3P and the Glanz is outperforming the FR64 s (currently Murasakino Sumile cart). A good match for Coralstone and Glanz is the Arche headshell.

Glanz MH-124s, Ikeda 407 (not B60) , Ikeda 345, FR64s, FR66s (not B60), Sorane TA-1L can use the same 30mm drilled TechDAS Tonearmbase.

A used FR64s has a similar market price, than a new Sorane TA1-L tonearm, a used FR66s has a similar market price,
than a new Glanz MH-124s

I will have the Sorane within the next days and can tell you more.

This is pretty much what I run after having an Ikeda 407 CR1. Its so good that I'm scared to buy anything else to try.
