Announcement - -- - -Whats Best Forum New Video Page Goes Live Today

Steve williams

Site Founder, Site Owner, Administrator
It is with great pleasure that Ron, Julian and I are proud to announce the launch of Whats Best Forum's new video page. It has always been our goal to be the best and most informative audio site on the internet. We started with the idea of creating a video page with a repository for informative videos from all of our advertisers. This was no small task. We started with the idea 6 months ago and after some due diligence we found a programmer who was up to the challenge of developing this new page

We decided to used a format very similar to that used by Netflix which shows a featured video at the top of the page followed below with the newly added videos and below that an alphabetical list of our manufacturer sponsors.

This page has gone through extensive alpha and beta testing and we feel that we have gotten all of the bugs out and we can now launch this new video page sometime later today

The featured video at the top will change every few days.

Huge kudos to Julian who has slaved behind the scenes working with the developer to make the page look the way we wanted but more so for the labor intensive job of loading all of these videos. We still have countless more videos to add and these will be done over the next few days going forward. So to all of our advertising sponsors please be patient as we get all videos loaded. We are reasonably certain that we have ironed out all of the bugs but please use this thread to report any bugs or suggestions

Also there will be a video button in the Nav bar at the top of the forum pages. The forum video page will be the new landing page for the site whereas before the Forum Home Page was the land page. This home page can still be accessed by clicking the new "Promoted Threads" button in the Nav Bar at the top. The previous "home page button" has been renamed "Videos"

We have many more ideas as to how we will use this new video page so stay tuned for more exciting changes but in the interim please have a look at and enjoy this new page and watch daily for more additions as well as constant changes to our "featured video"

As stated we have countless more videos to add from our advertising sponsors. This is a huge and time consuming job on the part of Julian so have a look daily for changes. We hope you all are as excited about this new video page as are we. Watch for more and different additions to this video page in the next few months as we will be rolling out some more additions to this video pageunnamed-1.jpg

I want to express deep thanks and gratefulness to Steve for imagining the video page of WBF, and to Julian for working tirelessly for months to bring Steve and Julian's vision to life!

Thank you Steve. Will this area of the site be exclusively for "advertising sponsors"? Is this where Ron's video interviews will go, and will members be posting system videos here adding to the brand categories, or will those be in different areas set up in the future? Is this just a reference area for clicking and watching the links or will you encourage discussion about the video content from members?

I think Peter is onto something though. The user generated content will be a draw as well.

As stated this is the way it will be. We will add to it later but this is a page designed as I described. We have spent 6 months on this and it is an informational page for members to go to. There will be no posting on it. Content is added by us. As we go on there will be another addition as Ron gets geared up to do his personal videos and interviews. Again there will be no comments to his as well. If comments are allowed the videos get buried and hidden behind all of the comments.

Yes Steve, I understand. But I think that when you get to it the user content will be something different, and valuable.

A lot of early YouTube people have been trying to get more manufacturers interested in video, as it is part of the future of the industry. This is a big positive to be doing this early on (ish, certainly compared to other sites).

Are most of the videos going to be played from YouTube? I ask only because people could go there if they wanted to leave a comment.

Thank you for the clarification Steve. It makes sense and is very clean that way. If members want to discuss the content, I guess they will simply link to the sponsor videos or Ron's videos and discuss as they do now on separate threads. This happens now when Wilson releases a nice marketing video.

I get it now. These video only threads are like sticky reference threads with controlled content. It will be interesting to see the break down between marketing videos of new product launches versus manufacturer and dealership videos meant to demonstrate the sonic performance of the gear they sell. I presume you anticipate of mix of each as is happening now only in a less dedicated way on random threads.

I would not want WBF comments proliferating onto YouTube. That would be a disorganized mess.

youre losing site of the trees for the forest. I can’t begin to tell you the work involved time wise to develop this page , go through alpha and beta testing to get it right and then to add all of the videos which truly has taken Julian so far the better part of the past 2 weeks to load only a fraction of what we have so far. So this is a landing spot to see videos from our manufacturers and eventually Ron’s videos will be added to create a personal touch to our video page.
Give it a chance. We hope you will all find it informative. Plus new ones will always be added

Whoever posts the video on YouTube will need to disable the comments on YouTube. When you play a YouTube video on a website you can click on "YouTube" in the video and it takes you to the YouTube site with it. If the intent is to avoid comment sections for this, I can only suggest when someone sends a video to post you ask that they do that if your intent is to not have a disorganized mess.

Steven I think you're being defensive when I'm not trying to put anything down. I'm just talking about it because I'm interested in it, and have stated that I think this is a really good positive thing that many people have recognized as a step forward. Manufacturers SHOULD be making videos and this seems like good encouragement.

Our goal is to provide current and updated information of our manufacturers brands as this has been a terrible year for everyone in the industry. I know you aren't putting it down and even though I understand your argument we have decided which course of action is the best direction forward for us

There are many dealer videos out there also introducing their gear to the public. I presume if they are advertisers on WBF they will be allowed to post the dealership videos here as well or am I mistaken?
Totally correct. This is why I stated that more will be coming. I can tell you that Julian has been working 8-10 hour days solidly for the past 2 weeks to post videos from about 12 of our manufacturers and dealers but we have more coming. Please be patient as this is truly a very large and time consuming task

When does this go live?

Just watched some of videos. Nicely done. Congrats to the whole team!
