The author exhibits serious psychopathology in addition to musical unawareness. His interchangeable use of "rock" and "rock 'n' roll" is just the most obvious example (of the latter characteristic, not the psychopathology).

10. Never liked Jerry Garcia or Grateful Dead.
9. Bob Dylan sucks. He can't sing and his poetry is mediocre and juvenile.
8. I kind of liked John Fogerty's music.
7. Didn't particularly care for Lou Reed.
6. I liked David Crosby as a soloist and as part of CSN&Y.
5. Bruce Springsteen has TWO good songs.
4. John Lennon was brilliant but was most creative under the influence. I don't care what he did in his personal life.
3. Phil Spector-no opinion.
2. Carlos Santana--great guitarist, but not a big fan of his music.
1. Frank Zappa is pretty much what the article described.

Maybe LA Weekly has an opening for another music columnist? :D

i wouldnt argue with any of that, but you didnt call any of them douches. there is such a thing as crafting ones work, its another thing to only take potshots at someone else.

I like your list:

I am with 10, 9,8,7, 6,5,3

4 I wouldn't know.
2 I like Santana and some of his music the latest output notwithstanding.

1 I haven't read the article :)

Pretty obvious to me this is a clickbait article. Page hits at the LAWEEKLY have probably reached new heights.

I like all of 'em at times, none of them all the time, and the criticisms expressed in the article are valid in that same way.
