I just stumbled across on YouTube.com Roberta Flack's cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Her rendition is very slow, beautiful, powerful and emotionally involving.

The track I heard may be from her album Quiet Fire (Atlantic Records 1971).

Has anyone heard this on vinyl?

Her first three lp's were great releases. Arrangements and covers took advantage of her range and musicians. Sadly she then drifted to pop and IMHO we all lost.
One of the best concerts Karen and I ever attended was her concert at the forum in Bloomington, Minn '73. Floor ten/12 rows center stage. In the area while with CDC getting updated on new CPU system.

Almost every time I play this Roberta Flack track I buy another "back-up" LP. And I generally despise covers. But I find her performance and the recording that transcendent. (This is how I wind up with 4, 5, 6, 7 sealed copies of titles I love.)

That is a beautiful version - love the background choir!

Glad you bumped the thread 6 years later. I was able to find a Mint 1971 original last night.

Saw Roberta Flack in a 10,000 seat arena. When she played the quiet passages you could hear a whisper from stage. Very captivating.
