Hi folks,

I have a m-audio av32.1 system, the amplifier however gave up after some 3 years of usage. I've been looking around for a reasonable replacement (2.1 plate) but it's all either TPA-based or $200+ module plates.
The m-audio was $150, so by reasonable I mean something that would replace it, instead of going for a new. I just hate throwing stuff out.. The $50 TPA3118 plate would fit that nicely, I just don't trust any of the reviews on junk coming from China. Is it at least somewhat decent (noise/power)? Will it do the job? The m-audio's can handle 20W RMS (monitor) and 70W RMS (sub). By job I mean powering the leftover speakers in my garage - no audiophile expectations whatsoever.
PS: Perhaps it does not have to be a plate. I was thinking some class AB 2.1 monolyth, secondhand with LP crossover on the center.. Stupid or not?

Thanks.
P

Hi,
In my experience, the TPA series of class D amplifiers sounds quite nice. Certainly more than enough for your garage.
The main issue is to select the best module possible. You might want to invest some time to search for user reviews on them.
