A friend states he can transfer HD music files (192/24 or 96/24) to reel to reel tape and the sound output could not be distinguished from an analog transfer from a master tape. I don't think so! What do you think??

Depends on what the digital files sound like. If the files were DSD128fs and taken from tape to begin with, the transfer was back to a high-end machine, then maybe. Otherwise... you could certainly tell the difference.

I will be back in touch with my friend and will no doubt get the 192/24 HD file of one of the jazz transfers. I will ask him to go ahead and transfer the file to tape. I will then see we have regarding sound. Thanks for the input.
