Ah, well.
Not necessarily a clever move: I have ordered a Audio Magic masterpiece for my Stromtank.
I guess that it will only be effective when running on-grid.
Otoh, on grid will be most time, when reading, cooking, eating …

My question is: are Audio Magic (masterpiece) fuses directional?
Some suppliers say no.

Thx for your input!

...ha! You could not resist! I should have started a "fuse pool" over/under for how many days it would take to order a fuse. Enjoy!

You can try both directions at first, but I’ve found they are typically best in the direction you use during burn in.

Directional Audio Magic fuses:
Alfred of highendelectronics was kind enough to tell me that the „1“ of masterpiece 1 is to be regarded as an arrow showing the direction.

Does that mean in the direction of the lettering? That’s what I use when there’s no arrow.

No.
From the bottom of the letters to the top of the letters.
Think of the “1“ in „M-1“ as an arrow giving the direction.

When I wrote direction of the lettering, I should have said direction of the reading, which is what I follow if there’s not an arrow.

Got a little parcel today… I‘m curious what I like more… AM Ultimate Premier or Purple… Think it will be a mix of fuses in the end.

I tried many after market fuses, and the calling card of the Ultimate Premier Beeswax is it doesn't sound hollow or have artificial artifacts.

I still use it to this day.

Have no idea what that means. I found the UP has a sense of presence, perhaps a bit of an upper midrange bump, that works with some components and not with others.

I have SR orange fuses in all my gear on both of my audio systems . I did however install a dedicated 20 amp circuit for both systems, and the difference sonically was very noticeable from the original 15 amp house circuits which i was previously plugged into.So to me that was money well spent. At this point, i am very happy with the Orange fuses, and the changes i have made in power cables. Both systems are dead quiet, crisp clean and articulate. I have achieved my goals.

I fully agree. A dedicated circuit made a huge difference for me also. My wife who at all is not interested in my hobby looked at me very surprised. Easy for her to notice the sound difference. Costed less than 400 Euro in total and took the electrician half a day. Initially I used a standard wall outlet. Now Furutechs.

What are your recommendations for a fuse to replace the Schurter fuse in a Taiko extreme?

Cheers, Ulrich

Which Model of Furutech plugs did you use please?

Hello, I just ordered my M1 and am anxious to hear it. Question: I see used fuses for sale.
This seems inherently like a bad idea, but curious what other thoughts are. Thanks! Ken

Yes, there’s a 2A M1 that was just posted for sale on audiomart. In principle, buying fuses used is ok. However, AM ones are fragile, as described on their site, and I had a used Ultimate Premier fall apart on me right off. No protection for second hand buyers. Btw, the guy selling the used fuse says it’s warm sounding. My experience with the UP was that it emphasizes presence, which as I understand it is done via an upper frequency bump, the opposite of warm. Alfred at Highend Electronics said I should expect the same sound from the M1. I don’t know, tho, if that was from actual listening.

Thanks for that. I'll stick with new for a fuse Ithink! Curious about the 'bump in high frequencies'. My system is very revealing
and I do not think I need that. The 'warm' sounded nice.
