The first proper Aussie show for a decade or so -- no, I didn't go, just read some comments. A couple of items caught my eye ...

The beast for Darth Vader's den: www.kyronaudio.com.au/Gaia.html. This got a big thumbs up, possibly could go on Tim's Christmas shopping list.

And the one for people who say no speaker can ever have too much power: http://sgraudio.com.au/products/illuminator/il4f.html. This was a major thumbs down, demonstrating that just throwing money at a product doesn't guarantee anything, and that we down under can overcook something as well as anyone else ...

Now that's pathetic.... $128k and goes down to 60Hz!!!

"From 60Hz to 40Khz, we've used the impressive flagship Illuminator range of drivers from ScanSpeak. These are then augmented down low by our own SGR ultra-low distortion 12" woofers built with a Linear Symmetrical Gap (LSG) motor structure."

This speaker is vapor. Nothing but a 3D CAD rendering and still no specs.

You may have misunderstood. It appears as if they have 4 woofers, 2 midrange drivers, and 1 tweeters handling from 60 Hz to 40kHz. As a four way speaker, the subs handle below 60 Hz.

You're wrong, Jack. They were generating, by many accounts, the loudest room at the show, but from a couple of comments on an Oz forum:

"Biggest dissapointment was the SGR room . Just harsh brash, no musicality. All that disco lighting amps, great big room, power conditioning, expensive vinyl gear, but yet can't play music. Big big let down."

and

"The best pair of speakers in the SGR room was the pair wearing blue dresses!"
