In 2007 I was pondering buying a new CD player. Today life is easy. If you have a question, Google will provide the answer. In fact tons of answers. The only thing you have to do is to pick the right one. Google learned me that there is a very effective way to establish if a man is getting old. Yep, he is pondering buying a new CDP. Well I'm not old, I'm only horrible close to my sixties but why take the risk? So no new CDP for me. Using the computer as a source instead of a CDP was the obvious answer. ID3, FLAC, WAV, WASAPI, DS, ASIO, UPnP, DLNA, Freedb, AMG, Gracenotes, cover art, DAC, NAS, Router, adaptive USB, asynchronous USB, Toslink, AES/EBU, SPDIF, WMP, Foobar, J River, dbPoweramp, EAC, bit depth, sample rate, 24/96, CDtext, Transcoding, VST, DCP Lantency and a couple of other things is all you need to know! Have I scared you enough? Of course I didn't know this all when I started. But I found out how to do it. As I tend to forget these things, I make notes. As I forget where I have left my notes, I put them all into my website, TheWellTemperedComputer.com. This is simply my notebook and of course you are welcome to it too. Enjoy.
