It's funny, because I've heard several TacT customer service horror stories by now, but was on the phone with Boz a couple of months ago and he patiently helped me restore someone's machine that had been bricked by an installer's negligence. Don't know why I was so lucky.

Over the course of three years, Boz has been incredibly helpful in every respect. At one point, per his request, I called him every morning and we chatted for 20-30 minutes about an issue I was having which turned out to be non-TacT. Last time Marty posted on this subject, he, too, was extremely pleased with their support and service.

I should say, Boz was available on email and phone. So that was not the issue. The issue was that he simply couldn't figure out why anyone would want to continue using their $16,000 investment or would update the firmware and expect anything else if it broke the system. Maybe they didn't sell many of these TCS systems. But having paid $10,000 and then $6K to upgrade it and still be left with a system that is not supported in any possible way, is not good in my book. I thought for sure he would offer to take a look at the unit, sell me scrap parts, something. I was amazed to hear that he had not even kept one system for him to test with! Usually engineers have a development system they keep where using special PC tools they can "re-flash" (reporgram) the unit but he said he didn't have anything. I find this very hard to believe.

SMITH: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
DALE: Don't do that.

If it would have been me (at Boz's place); I would have done something to fix you up Amir. :b

and to be completely extinguished is very 'dark' indeed ...

P.S. I hope you can read into my prose Amir; if not just ask me.
I'll 'clarify' it for you if needed. But I'm sure you do though.

.....You shouldn't have done that......

Net, net, I have a $16,000 door stop. My advice: please avoid TacT at all costs.
Duly noted. Seems like a classic example of extremely poor service [after the sale] at its absolute best. I feel for you on this one, Amir.

Dang.

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding Deqx 2.6p. I bought it second-hand without remote control. When I wrote an email to DEQX to find out about the possibility to buy one I got a strange reply.

(...) The unit you have is not the c=version with pre-amp analog volume control. Ow that I have found your unit in the data base here I can confirm that while your unit is digital volume only it was fitted with the required IR receiver and can use the remote control. (...)

Has anybody of you heard of diffrent -versions of PDC-2.6P. It is labeled exactly 2.6P, it does have IR receiver but I have never seen any single info that there are 2.6p versions without analog volume control on the market.

Tomek, that was a very poorly worded response that you received. Full of grammatical errors and it manifestly did NOT answer your question. You should simply email them back and ask if you can buy a remote control for your 2.6P.

Yes there are different versions of the DEQX 2.6 - some were supplied without analog volume controls. In fact every DEQX machine has several customizable options which can be fitted in the factory. But as far as I am aware - if yours is fitted with an IR receiver - then it can use the DEQX remote control.

Actually, Alan did write to me that I can buy the remote control becouse there is IR receiver. What suprise me is the fact that I have never found an option to have an analog volume control or not in 2.6P model. Even a sigle mention in whole ad materials. The only options were to have balanced outs board or digital outs board. What is the diffrence beetwen 2.6 and 2.6P besides remote control possibility then?

My unit has extra digital out board fitted.

Regards, Tomek
