Camaro SS with 1LE performance package!

This car cost about the same as my previous Subaru STi, just under $40k with some negotiation. However, it has 150 more hp, gets better fuel economy, and it turns, stops and accelerates much faster. I have some issues with my STi, not the least of which is the fact Subaru just lost a class action lawsuit wrt the 2.5L turbo motor in the pre '15 WRX and all STis.

I never thought I'd ever own a Camaro, but the '16 model year introduced a new Camaro built on the excellent Alpha platform the Caddy ATS-V uses, and it's one of the best in the world. Combined with the LT1 V8 producing 455hp and tq it makes it to 60 in the low 4s range and 1/4 mile in the low 12s range. The suspension based on GM's magnetic ride control, which started in Vettes and also made it's way into Ferraris, is amazing. With 285/30/20 front and 305/30/20 rear Goodyear Supercar tires it produces over 1g of lateral grip and 60-0 stopping distances well under 100 ft.

Other cool features include multiple settings for suspension, steering and exhaust, a heads-up display, launch control and a no-lift-to-shift 6sp manual transmission.

I have an Uncle with a M4 and I'll take my Camaro over his M4, it's that good. The Germans have some catching up to do... with a Camaro! Who would've thought...

I just picked up the car on Monday and am having the paint polished then I'm installing a clear-bra kit, some splash/rock guards, wheel locks, floor liners, etc... pics are not mine but I'll post a few once I get done with the exterior.

Thanks, and yes it is getting there! For the past 5 years I've also done other things to make extra money but recently I've had a near-constant 2 week backlog of orders to fill, which is amazing. I am truly grateful! :)

Now that's a fun toy! Congrats!!

Thanks!

It's definitely a toy, basically a Vette with a tiny backseat. But it's also currently my only car. :)

I don't drive much and it doesn't snow much around here anymore. It does have an ice/snow driving mode, lol. Luckily snow tires these days are excellent.

Wow, looks fantastic, congratulations Dave!

Glad to hear your cable business is doing well, you deserve it. My system, among probably many others, is proof ;) (Note from a very grateful and satisfied customer.)

Congratulations, Dave! I am sure you will enjoy that very fun car immensely! I love the grey color too!

I think the Camaro is quite a bit longer and wider than the Subaru, no? Will it take a bit of time to get used to the bigger dimensions?

(I ask only because while I don’t care for cars that are cramped on the inside, I also don’t like cars with large exterior dimensions. When I compared the M6 to my SL last week I felt that it would take quite a bit of time to get used to the longer four-seater.)

That's a pretty sick machine! They sound better than any Subaru, too.

And yes, Dave makes really nice cables at incomparable prices.

Thanks, the grey makes it a little less cartoon-like vs the brighter colors. :)

It's definitely longer and wider vs the STi, not by as much as you'd think, the Subie has grown over the years and is closer to mid-size now. I'd guess the Camaro is a few inches longer and a couple inches wider. Also, the Camaro has shrunk a bit, it's not small but it's smaller and lighter vs the pre '16 generation.

I've owned a few full sized trucks and a Suburban so the Camaro is no problem to drive around wrt size. It's windows are small though, which did take some getting used to but not more than 30 minutes or so. Once you get the seating position and mirrors adjusted it's not horrible, but it is an issue. IMO they prioritized styling over visibility a little too much.

The interior is roomier vs a vette and can fit much taller people but it's not roomy and the rear seats are very small. The front seats are amazing suede and leather Recaros but they won't fit wider folks. Also, the trunk opening is ridiculous, it's like a mail slot. It is a small car with a stretched out wheelbase and width.

The M6 is a beautiful car, I wouldn't let the dimensions hold you back, I don't think it'll take too long to get used to... there are far larger vehicles out there!

I know this is about Dave’s new badass ride, but someone just parked a new Lamborghini Aventador where I usually put the trash cans out for pick up tomorrow morning. I hate it when that happens! 61E02E63-6194-4405-BFB0-12786314BDAA.jpg

A friend has a ~600 hp Supra (and an IS-F), it's a nice car, especially for it's time. With a motor like the Supra's turbo 6 or a Chevy V8 the sky is the limit. The ZL1 version of my car is 650 hp and a tuner is offering a 1000 hp version.

Beautiful car! It is hard to believe it's parked on the street.

This car looks like it’s been designed by Lamborghini. Congratulation sir. I am thinking of buying an American car for a change too.

Kind regards,
