I have always liked Spike Lee's movies as he continues to expose the racial inequalities in this country. I plan on seeing this one

This film looks terrific with Spike Lee upping his game

We went to see BLACKkKLANSMAN today. In my opinion this movie was very well done.

Sometimes the more you think things change, the more they stay the same.

Spike Lee took us from the re-birth of the KKK in the 1920's to Colorado Springs in the 1970's to the Charlottesville Unite the Right demonstations just last year. Too many similarities for comfort.

John David Washington (Denzel's son) was excellent as the hero of the movie, Ron Stallworth. Adam Driver was surprisingly good, too - much better than in his role in Star Wars.

Great, superbly paced story telling, too. Never checked my watch once during the movie.

Saw it a couple of weeks ago and I too thought it was pretty good. Made me uncomfortable at a couple of points.

I haven't seen the movie as I am no Spike Lee fan and rarely go to the movies, but do like John Washington so will probably watch it when it comes to Netflx.

The pervasive (and still current) view of the "Conservative" and bigoted Colorado Springs, since 1970 has NOW increased in population almost 5 fold now with 22% being minority and 7% of the total population being Black, compared to the "Diverse, Progressive and inclusive" city of Boulder, where it is 88% white and only 0.9% Black.

Boulder may be the "whitest" city I have ever been to. They even have a regresssive "Boulder Tax" to ensure only the wealthiest need apply ensuring their lack of diversity continues. But they get a pass because they are one of the most "Progressive" cities in America. It's laughable when you separate propaganda from facts.

As to Charlottesville analogy are you (or Lee) really making a comparison to the old days of the KKK??? Funny, as a Conservative Jew in this country, I am more fearful of the growing number of intolerant Progressives and "Socialists" including but not limited to ANTIFA, BLM, Black liberation theological followers, new Black Panthers, Farrakhan followers, intolerant left wing millennials of all races, radical Islamists, atheists, intolerant teachers and college professors, the game "knockout", etc than the shrinking number of despicable and hateful skinheads. But I guess hate only goes one way in some people's mind.

Last year national news about how Richard Spencer, the neo-Nazi was going to come to my Montana and "take out" my neighboring Whitefish because of "how Jews in town treated his parents" who own a real estate agency and guess what; no one showed. That is usually the end result of these neo-Nazi planned rallies, kind of like the one a few weeks ago, where about 15 hateful skinheads showed up compared to the 1000s of wild, destructive and rioting ANTIFA and BLM who destroyed property and inflicted harm on innocents.

The last line in the trailer is enough to preclude it for me. Never liked Lee or his liberal politics (nothing to do with his racial views) anyway!

I have an issue with both his liberal and racial politics as well as his intolerance.

I really enjoyed this movie, kudos to Lee for finding a true story that is so relevant today. Nothing more enjoyable that laughing at the Klan and/or supporters of the Confederacy.

Idiots in 1970 and idiots today.

You've made a lot of assumptions about a movie you haven't seen. Then you took off on a couple of tangents that were unrelated to the movie.

Colorado Springs as a city was not presented in a negative light. It just happened to be the city where the actual events took place. The movie is based on a true story.

The local KKK chapter was presented as racist because they were racist.

Most of the white people in the movie are not presented as racist. Many of them supported Ron Stallworth (played by John David Washington) in his effort to unmask the Klan.

Stallworth, as I understood him from the movie, did not have extreme political views. It would be fair to describe him as a moderate. There were other black characters in the movie that had more extreme views. He tried to help them see a different perspetive.

I was responding more to you and Spike Lee's absurd analogy of the KKK to today and the comment "Too many similarities for comfort" which is utter nonsense. Now, I understand fully, that those of you living in neighborhoods, like La Jolla, Beverly Hills, Boulder, Palo Alto, etc, where the Black population is below 1% go to these movies to claim to be social justice warriors and THE arbiters of racial justice, but the reality is quite different than what you think.

In fact, here is your quote I was responding to. As it pertains to Colorado Springs, it sure seems like someone is making some assumptions in a negative light???

"Spike Lee took us from the re-birth of the KKK in the 1920's to Colorado Springs in the 1970's to the Charlottesville Unite the Right demonstrations just last year. Too many similarities for comfort"

As I pointed out, it is the intolerance of the left with the phony narratives that Spike Lee and apparently you, buy into and propagate while ignoring the real issues that effect most Americans, particularly minorities and lower socioeconomic groups of all kinds.

I really don't need to see the movie to know what propaganda Lee is going to peddle as it is apparent just from his (and yours) extrapolation of a story of the KKK to today's Charlotesville incident.

The KKK did become more active in the 1920's in opposition to immigration from southern and eastern Europe as well as black migration from the rural south to big cities.

The KKK was present in the 1970's in Colorado Springs.

The KKK was present at the Unite the Right Rally in Charlotte.

That is the similarity.

It is not a political statement. It is a statement of fact.

The KKK is a white supremacist organization. That is a fact.

Where is the phony narrative?

Where is the phony narrative?

The phony narrative is the weight you phony liberals give to this dwindling group of white supremacist hate groups, while accepting, condoning, ignoring and even legitimizing the true fascists of today's society who have and continue to undermine the fabric of civility. For a list I refer you to my prior posts. As I said, as a Conservative Jew, I feel more threatened by Spike Lee, his group of black liberation theology, Farrakhan, new Black Panthers, radical Islam, Progressives, teachers, college professors, BLM, ANTIFA, Democrats, mainstream media and the rest.

The film would have done just fine telling the story of the KKK, mocking them, etc kind of like Inglorious Bastards BUT instead he does go on and make a political statement and worse yet extrapolates that those of us on the right as well as Trump are in the camp of the Charlottesville skinheads; of cause totally ignoring those I list above as the most savage, brutal, above the law Progressive anarchists.
