Active licence plate for Tesla, CA only

Interesting. $1000 for a license plate that will need to be replaced every few years. In 5 years, they will be $150 and in 10 years, a lot less than that.
That is one of the most stupid ideas I have heard in a long time. It's just another product looking for somebody to buy it and another thing to go wrong.
Who needs it? I wouldn't pay a dime for that sort of option that isn't required on my car. I won't even get a vanity plate and I stopped getting a doctor's plate once they started charging for it.
The $1000 can buy a lot of booze, coffee, music, tubes, dinners out or other things you can actually have fun with. Why would I spend it on that? Besides, I don't even look at my license plate. When I'm with the car, I'm inside the car driving it. For that reason, I hardly care what the paint color of my car is. The interior upholstery that I have to look at when I'm driving is all that matters.

Too many dollars out there chasing crazy expensive products. Better to spend the money on expensive interconnects or speaker cables. Think, you can buy a Tesla Model 3 for the price of a pair of interconnects, and have enough left over for a stupid digital license plate.
