Just bought some new speakers and now I need an Integrated with included DAC. Need something simple for the wife to operate. I'm going to be using JRiver Remote on iPad Air.

Budet is ~$5k or less if I can get it. Need power since speakers are not that efficient. Looking for a less expensive Playback Designs IPS-3.

What I've looked at so far is the NAD M2 Master, the Linn Majik? and some Rotel pieces. Other amps to look at? Would like an included DSD DAC, but couldn't find one.

Suggestions?

Devialet 120?

Parasound Halo Integrated?

Both these are DSD capable.

Bruce,

I have the Linn Majik, it's a great entry-level unit, but it doesn't do DSD.
My suggestion would be for a Hegel H160, at $3500. Not only it does DSD over USB, but also has a built-in streamer.
An even better choice is the new H360, that adds a better DAC and more/better amplification. But it's more like $6000.

Have you investigated Aurender X725? Will do 24/192 PCM or DSD 64/128. At $2499, you almost have room for matching X100 ;) in your budget.

Thanks to everyone that gave me suggestions. Lots to read about. Just bought a pair of Maggie 1.7i speakers. I see that the Hegel was reviewed with a pair of .7 Maggies.
The Parasound, Devialet and Aurender look like possibilities as well. Now just need to contact some dealers for prices!!

May I suggest also the Lyngdorf TDAi 2170?
I've owned the previous model (2200, go figure :)) that served me well for couple of years.
All-in-one on a budget and I think it can also do DSD...

You won't have good value buying them together, except at the cheap end. Nobody does both great amps and DACs. OK Ayre does but not in one box. There is the $1k Marantz PM7005 with up to DSD128. The Parasound is $2500. The below combo is $4500 and a killer value. I'd get the Parasound.

Exasound E20
Merrill Taranis
You'd need some xlr/rca cables.

I'm a dealer, so take it w/a grain of salt if you want, but I think the Hegel integrateds are excellent. The top-of-line H360 does DSD and can receive network streams as well. The H160 doesn't do DSD, but adds Airplay in addition to the network streaming. Great 'one-box' components that feature almost full implementation/integration of all their separates.

+1 on both of those. The Halo is a screaming bargain IMO and the Devialet is amazing, especially with SAM

The Parasound is on 24/7 and both the wife and I love it. It really does play with the big boys.
