I thought this was interesting.

And, this one is connected. It is really interesting to me because it can be used to compare musical preferences between any two regions or states. People in my state, for example, are more likely to play Avril Lavigne, Guns and Roses, or Alice in Chains than people in the five states I compared my with my state.

It is based on a quarter million users of streaming music from various sources that is paired to those users' zipcodes. The link explains it better.

I do think that it is pretty much on target with musical tastes in my area. Their music is on vinyl, too. :)

I have no idea about what people listen to over where we live now and even worse I'm so far removed from the current pop/rock scene that I don't recognize most of bands formed after the 1990s.
