LampizatOr Horizon - Tube Rolling Paradise

Takacs & Pinter My system has recently taken a large step forward, and I wanted to share a little bit of the details. As I reported in the Taiko system thread here, several months ago I finally approached what I feel is decent acoustic treatment for my room, which has a semi-vaulted ceiling and...

    Re-imagining "Class A" Amplification

I have been using the cheapo Amazon wall wart I linked above without any perceptible adverse effects. One data point but hope that helps.

Lampizator announcement: launch of our all new TOTL HORIZON DAC

Agreed. It’s all about synergy and what the best performance mode of your amp is. I have used it in both modes and there’s not much difference. The amp’s preferred mode is going to be the much larger factor.

@oldmustang how do you get to these profiles Steve? Are those the powershell scripts on the desktop?

For me 99% of my listening is local tracks, so can't answer that!

Taiko Audio XDMS - Extreme Direct Music Server Software

Steve, I agree. I followed your lead and am very impressed with "alternative" setting in XDMS-NSM. The standard setting was significantly less compelling in my system.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Would love to know if you have directly connected the Farad3 to the DCD in lieu of the Uptone in series to see if there's a difference..

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Using a Farad Super 3 Supercap supply. Never A/B'd against anything else so no idea how it performs, but may have some advantages akin to batteries.

    Re-imagining "Class A" Amplification

Thanks Angus @lscangus ! I wonder now if my mistake was sending the initial trigger with a male plug to female socket of the first monoblock then. Which means that the initial input was going to the "output" female trigger socket, so the daisy chain doesn't work if the female socket is only for...

    Re-imagining "Class A" Amplification

Happy New Years all! Just spent some time getting the Nanocon triggers up and running. Just had full success with my monoblocks, so wanted to report - @viola in case you find some of this useful. I ordered male and female Nanocon connectors from Mouser - NSC3M Neutrik | Mouser NSC3F Neutrik |...

Got it. 2 x QSFP cables, 4 QSFP cards. @kevn you were right on the ball.

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

QSFP (quad SFP and not QFSP btw unless this is a new Taiko acronym) is duplex/bidirectional. I have a couple in my basement connecting my server to the 40Gbe switch. Only 1 cable needed to the server. Happy new year everyone!

@MarkusBarkus How much MLV area wise did you end up using? What was the downside to the big ceiling cloud? Was that pure absorption or diffusion?

    Taiko Audio Systems Gallery

Wow. Kudos. I'm not nearly as crazy as you are but thank you for that amazing writeup of your work on this. I put down a few absorbers on the floor along the audio path and it really did improve the ambience/hall image last night. Did you test panel absorbers vs panel diffusors specifically? Do...

    Taiko Audio Systems Gallery

@nenon I love the diffusions on the floor for floor reflections. What tests did you do? and how did you decide on diffusors vs absorption? It's funny I accidentally stumbled on this when i lazily decided to plop some panels flat on the floor. But not in a systematic way. Did you do any...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

Seconded - would love to have XLR analog outputs on mine as my amps only take XLR inputs. Would like to avoid an adapter if possible. Goal is ultimately to interface digital XDMI to the Horizon with whatever Emile/Lukasz come up with, though. @Taiko Audio would ripping out these three ports...

Introducing Olympus & Olympus I/O - A new perspective on modern music playback

I’m certainly a huge DSD fan too. I try to collect in DSD over PCM. But reading between the lines, perhaps 24/192 with XDMI/AES is so far beyond anything with USB it might worth the temporary tradeoff. Only Emile can say…
