What are the best speakers you've ever heard ?
5 pairs!? I have 2 pairs of SC-V, a pair of SC-IV, a pair of SC-III and a SC-II.C.C. center. The only ones being used are 1 pair of SC-Vs.- Brent71

Keep your eyes on HiFi Shark and eBay, you'll find pairs come up for sale. The SC-IIIs definitely need a sub (or subs) but they great with a good sealed sub if you spend the time to dial it/them in. I forgot to post an update here about my situation. The seller was great, and after keeping him in the loop about what I'd found for prices of used/NOS vs new drivers, etc, he refunded me $250 more than the cost of new drivers from Madisound! John Dunlavy used domes in the earlier models, then switched to cones later on because he had some problems with them surviving shipping. I've seen quite a few pics of other pairs with the same dome drivers, and then later pairs with higher serial numbers, with the cones. I don't know exactly...- Brent71

What's wrong with the factory drivers? Unless you have the resources and knowledge on Mr. Dunlavy, I'd think toying around with drivers is going to lead to worse results, not better.- Brent71
