All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

They are made in Indonesia in the same factory where they make Yamaha pianos. The attention to detail involved adjusting the production process for the birch grown in Hokkaido, Japan .Hokkaido Birch is prized for audio and musical instruments (Sony also uses it on their high end ES speakers)...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

The little blurb also said the NS-5000 was underpriced. Absolute Sound gave the speaker a good review, but there were so many little details they could not include (probably for space reasons or because there was so much) about the speaker's technical development. If any smaller manufacturer...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

All I can say is that I would try to stay in the same price range of about $15,000 list price. I think that's a sweet spot for value. There are so many variables that go into putting a system together I find it very difficult to imagine let alone listen to all the combinations of front end...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

Sorry I don't get to this forum very often. My previous system was a Sony XA-5400ES SACD, NAD M-3 Integrated Amp, Gallo 3.1 speakers with the SA subwoofer amp that energies a second voice coil. Great little system from 2006 or so. My plan was to replace just the speakers and see how...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

Sorry I just saw your reply from July and August. I love the speakers! It took me a while to get them set up properly as I wanted to find a way to be able to move them around on carpet to do so by myself. I finally have done so with some audiophile anti-vibration platforms from Poland and...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

I paired my NS-5000 with the Luxman 590axII, which is Class A 30 watts, but actually after that its AB to about 100 watts. Luxman really doesn't explain this at all. There was only one review but I searched the forums to confirm this. I can tell you the amp has plenty of power. Even Yamaha's...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

Those are good thoughts, particularly about the scale to your current and future room. FYI black furniture makes a room look larger and reflective gloss black even moreso. Think about a black gloss grand piano vs. matte black or gloss white. The NS-5000 have been out for about 4 years now...

Yes, I had seen that too; thanks.

    CES 2020

I think they were in the Venetian off site; check out the suites. Most I think pulled out this year. I saw Lenbrook (NAD and PSB), Onkyo. I was hoping for AVR announcements for HDMI 2.1 but there's nothing. I think they all went to CEDIA plus the specialty audio shows, Axpona, Rocky...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

I was thinking of pairing the NS=5000 with the Luxman L-590AXII integrated, which is Class A up to 30 watts but goes to 165 watts in A/B. Then I'd replace my SACD/CD transport with either the Technics SL-G700 or the Marantz SA-10. The Luxman retails for $9,500 which is between Yamaha's...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

My take is that with Yamaha's announcement that the USA availability of the NS-5000 along with the C-5000 and M-5000 pre-amp and amp separates and the GT-5000 turntable constitutes a "system" makes me ask some interesting questions. First, the "system" does not (yet) have a dedicated...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

I auditioned the Sabrina shortly after it came out. The dealer sold mostly home theater gear and the demo took place in a pitch black darkened room. It was my first darkened room audition and was very strange to me. The speaker was very good and the sound seemed to float above the speakers...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

Yes, we did correspond. I'm going through the same thing but I will pull the trigger on the Yamaha without listening, although I keep thinking they'll announce availability for the US any day because it simply makes no sense why the USA is literally the only country in the world where you can't...

Persona's are interesting. I'm sure this is not true, but Paradigm might be considered more of a home theater speaker than a critical two-channel choice. My brother had Paradigm's for his home theater and he cares nothing about listening to stereo. Plus, Paradigm's are sold here in Atlanta at...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

I wrote some of the earlier posts on why the NS-5000 are not available in the USA. I checked every one of Yamaha's markets and even South America and Mexico have the speakers. The USA is the only market in the world where they're not sold. It may have something to do with the new Proposition...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

The NS-5000 were at the Montreal Hi-Fi show this March, are now featured on the Yamaha Canada website and are on one Yamaha retailer's website in Canada. So I would expect the USA market is next.

Here are a couple of updates: 1. Interestingly the stands for the NS-5000 are on the Yamaha USA website with a technical description. 2. Found two new reviews: http://www.soundstageaustralia.com/index.php/reviews/114-yamaha-ns-5000-loudspeakers...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

Hi-Fi Choice magazine in the UK has a new review in their January 2018 issue (sorry, no link). I just read it today at the newsstand. The reviewer found them like electrostatics and the drivers tonally even, big soundstage, great midrange. He had a few niggling dislikes but he compared these...

All New Yamaha NS 5000 Speakers..... World-Beaters ?

I've been interested in these speakers since first learning of them, having passed on the 1000m's when they were introduced in the US the mid-1970's, and always regretting it. So I've read every forum and review and even contacted Absolute Sound's editor and have gotten the "not at this time"...
