    Most beneficial Cable

I've also noticed, by some of the replies here, that even though there may be gains to be made by changing to a used cable, it may be worth it to up the anti and get into the NR technology in a newer cable. Any opinions about this and the diminishing returns formula?

Interesting observation, but I;m talking about simply moving a cable a few inches without unplugging it.

    Most beneficial Cable

A side note that's always bothered me a bit, or made it more difficult is; Whenever I move a cable (almost any cable) I find it has a negative impact on the sonics, and usually takes a couple days to return to its old self. I don't know if this is just me, or there's something more to this. It...

    Most beneficial Cable

Dedicated lines to music room. Furutech receptacles. Puritan Labs Conditioner, with their upgraded power cord, and grounding device. I wan to stay in the Shunyata line of cables, but was hoping to get a clearer idea of where to go first. Thanks for the reply.

    Most beneficial Cable

I currently have a Shunyata Alpha -HC power Cable powering my Audio Research REF75 SE amplifier. I also have a pair of Shunyata Black Mambas powering my 2 REL Subs. My REF6 preamp is connected using an older Cardas cable I had laying around (forget the name, but it was about a 400$ cable), and...

Hey Scott, thanks for the reply. I took your advice and listened a little closer. It seems the mid range driver is not working at all. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

    Sound level problem Elipsa

Hi Guys: Wondering if anyone has any insight into my speaker problem. The right side of my 2 channel set up is playing at a much reduced volume level. When I unplugged the speaker cables at the speaker end and swapped it withe left side cable, the right side remained the quiet side. I think this...

    New Tubes

Quick update. New tubes installed last night. Ran for a few hours before listening. Seems a bit of improvement over old tubes. A little more bottom end heft, and a little more dynamic. See what happens after some more useage. I'm uncertain how many hours were on the KT150s. Thanks again for...

    New Tubes

Thanks Lem for the detailed replies. Your advice seems very logical, and makes good sense to me. I will likely go ahead and swap out the old for the new tubes soon. I am however, a little bit curious what would have happened if I did the upgrade package on the tubes. Maybe I would have...

    New Tubes

I ordered a set from the tube store. They are about half price compared to the dealer quote I received. Your replies were extremely helpful. I have kind of a follow up question though. Other than tube failure, how do I know when to replace the tubes? They are able to bias perfectly, but I think...

    New Tubes

I have what might appear to be silly question for you guys. When purchasing new tubes for my Ref75 SE, should these be purchased from Audio Research, or , from an online tube store? Are there any potential pit falls either way? Can I rely on good matched set if I don't buy from ARC? Also, can I...

    Audio Research and sub woofer

Sorry for the late reply. I was experimenting with running a REL sub through speaker connections and did not seem to have very good results. It almost seemed anemic for a subwoofer. It wasn't very musical. Not sure if this is ARC or REL issue. I moved REL sub back to home theater room.

    JPS Labs Aluminata Cables

I use JPS labs interconnects for all my gear and to my ears they are a nice improvement over the mid point Nordost and Neotechs I have tried. I also had a little Ars Sonum tube amp in a second system and when I changed the rca interconnects to JPS Labs super conductor, the difference was quite...

Just wondering if anyone is using subwoofers with their Audio Research gear and if anyone would like to share positive or negative results? Thanks

    Music Downloads

Hoping to get some help here. I am not computer savvy in any sort of way. I can only barely make my system work for my immediate needs. I am now becoming increasingly frustrated trying to find downloads of specific music. I usually purchase music from Pro studio masters web site, but they don't...

    New sound room woes

Bobvin: If you look at some of the pics you will see the sides and tops are dadoed out to accept some mdf panels. The activated carbon is in pellet form and is contained between 2 sheets of peg board that is fastened into 2 of the side and top slots. There is a real science to the dimensions...

    New sound room woes

One thing I have learned during this room build process is that the room is absolutely the most important part of the equation. I have in my opinion achieved incredible sound with extremely good, but not top tier gear. I do have another question for you guys. I have my Ref 75SE paired with the...

    New sound room woes

My diaphragmatic absorbers are now built and installed and I have been living with them now for about 4 weeks. To sum up the results that were achieved all I can say is HOLY S#@T! I did not anticipate what was accomplished! Somehow by managing the bass frequencies in my room, I was actually...

    New sound room woes

At this point, I did not know what kind of result I was going to get with these units, but when I compared the sheer mass and engineering to what some other sound treatment options are, it made me think these have to better. Some companies would sell you a bass trap that was nothing more than a...

    New sound room woes

After some room design considerations I decided to make 6 of these absorbers which are capable of dealing with true low frequency energy, and place them across the front wall of my music room. I needed to elevate them a bit to achieve what I needed, so I built a little riser for them to sit on...

    New sound room woes

Another update; Since I am not sufficiently happy with my room, I decided to learn as much as I could about how to make improvements in order to maximize my Audio Research gear performance. I experimented with many room treatment options offered by several manufacturers. I had come to the...

    New sound room woes

Quick update: I believe a large part of my anemic bass response was related to the new furutech receptacle that powers my AR preamp. After some break in it is much improved. Once again happy with my Audio Research gear. Not sufficiently happy with my room. This seems to be such a misunderstood...

    New sound room woes

Thanks for more insight. The graphic helps me understand a lot better. I may have posted this in the wrong forum category, but I thought it might an Audio Research Amp issue. Should I try to reposition things in the room before or after room treatments are applied.

    New sound room woes

Just built a new room 16'-2" x 21'. Moved my gear in and was so disappointed at the sound. Bass is non existent. Could it be that my ref 75 can't drive my Sonus Faber Elipsas? My old room had carpet and room treatment. Thanks.

    Diaghragmatic absorbers

Hi o6: This room doesn't seem like an unusable space. Not sure why you were told that. The room I am building is 17'-0" X 21'-0" with 8.25'-0" ceiling height. I am thinking about building some of the bass management into the walls, and am investigating the carbon technology. Surely I am not the...
