I don’t.
It’s unusually unclear what the software is actually doing. Even to talk about phase for azimuth adjustment is a bit weird. But when you realise that;
- Green curve shows magnitude and phase in the right channel relative to 1kHz sine in the left channel and
- Red curve shows magnitude...
Yes.
I really agree to the reasoning in that article.
One can always argue how large the impact is, and probably the variation in LPs in combination with cantilever geometries are greater than the impact of clamps and rings. But still, a good mat, clamp and ring will probably improve all LP...
I'm more suspicious to the phone, and to that app in general.
I understand it measures the speed and calculates the deviation from 33 1/3 rpm, right?
That's not wow or flutter. It's just a speed deviation which can be adjusted on the motor control of Stabi M.
We are not that sensitive to speed...
Agree. And it should not be necessary.
For very low output cartridges, I think it will be excellent with a low ratio sut like 1:2 or 1:4, and nobody should need more.
I understand Reinhards decision to keep all circuits clean.
I think it's aimed for customers using multiple tonearms, and for...
On Thöress Phono Enhancer i assume.
That is impressive.
I don't know of any other tubed phono stage with 70dB gain. Must be difficult to keep it linear.
On the input resistors:
Ok, the LP-S has moderate output but very high impedance, but it will work very good. The Ikeda won't be a problem with moderate output and very low impedance. The Anna has very low output, you may need a SUT for that.
In fact, just the three cartridges you mention a very different which means...
What types of inputs do you need, i.e. what cartridges will you use?
The Thöress is very versatile, but it can't handle everything and especially not everything at the same time.
Ok, I see what you mean. I agree, there's no reference.
Well, the only reference there is is the cartridge specifications.
In this case, you even need to get the test record used for your cartridge specifications, e.g. CBS STR 100 for Lyra.
You also need to know the exact gain applied to the...
But that is exactly what Adjust+ is doing :) But not only level, phase also.
Here's a plot of the azimuth adjustment in Adjust+:
Or do I misunderstand you?
From COP to COM
This issue was raised by a close friend of mine. His friend in turn, told him that he got totally incorrect VTF and after correcting it he got heavy distorsion. The VTF was set by my friend and with his gauge in the first place.
It was a bit of a mystery.
I've experienced...
I agree, that is totally irrelevant.
If you decrease THD with 30% by altering the VTF by 1mg, then it's relevant.
But if you stay within the range for a specific cartridge, that should not be an issue at all.
I don't think that is immediately obvious.
I never heard of anyone else but myself using the tool like that.
You are the first I come across after using it for 10 years.
Well, it does.
If you get the voltage magnitude and phase from L and R channels correct, it is correct.
Feickert is showing a...
I think the VTF has much bigger impact than SRA, and that it is actually when getting the SRA correct that the chance is bigger to get more correct VTF.
I even think I can proove it :)
I know that's quite a mouthful to proove, but at least I could outline that idea.
You can get the best isolation or you can get the best performance of the subwoofer.
The two may or may not combine.
If you design feet/pads or whatever with isolation frequency below 70% of lowest audio signal frequency, you will get very good isolation in the whole range.
But all elastic...
The measurement parameters are all connected. If you change one, the others change too. The goal is to get everything orthogonal between actual stylus assembly and groove. The exactness of this orthogonality is displayed in terms of magnitude and phase for L and R channel.
Adjust+ is just...
Yes, he's a nice man. Thanks.
I discussed with him about the tape eq already. I am a customer.
How should I explain myself... Manipulation of the frequency and phase response is inherent in a phono stage. Very high gain combined with riaa eq for arbitrary cartridges is not an easy task. There...
Thanks. Shure, but the high gain mc version is typically fitted with 100ohm, 560ohm and 1kohm resistors. Why not specifying the gain instead of a series of cartridges that "will work"?
As you know, VERY high gain usually has a trade off in non linearities. And if you don't need that extreme high...
Yes.
Riaa has time constants 75, 318 and 3180µs with +/-20dB attenuation 20/20000Hz, whereas iec/ccir has only one time constant 35µs for 15ips with only 13dB attenuation at 20kHz.
Hence the Thöress Super Preamp would also be possible to adapt for tape eq.
The Enhancer is very nice, but I...
Not bad to combine these with e.g. wings. Not bad at all.
Random reflective surfaces also breaks up the room reverberation to even out the energy distribution.
Available products have different properties regarding reflection, diffusion and absorption. Material absorption is one factor, but the design itself also result in more or less "geometrical" absorption, i.e. due to the shape of the diffusing elements.
If you're looking for a diffusor, I would...
I thought it was a discussion regarding reliability
Regarding sonics, there's not much to compete with the Jadis power amps in my opinion.
In any case, your statement is quite far from the spirit of Jadis. Especially regarding JA80.
I realize the OP is not interested in this...
Well, I changed myself for KT120 on my mk1. It's an easy operation and wouldn't even require sending them to Jadis.
There's autobias on mk1 as well, and there's a fuse for each tube on mk1 as well.
What else was different?
"Better transformers", "larger caps", "better wiring"? :confused...
It was. Many components don't have sturdy enough grounding posts, and especially to fit two or even more grounding cables make a weak point.
I'm not sure this is something Entreq wants to do. Let's say it's a prototype.
Thanks.
What a nice event. Very cool.
I may have an Entreq product that you haven't seen. It's not a big deal, but it's convenient.
It's an Eartha Challenger Double Y-cable;
I modified the 4Point connection box with a grounding post, so now I have one grounding cable connected from...
Haha, that's cool. But you won't get far with that on a Jadis amp.
I have the Beck RM 1 Tube Tester, customized for the tubes I use, see image below. It is possible to measure transconductance with a little trick. The RM 1 contains a switch for the calibrate measuring voltage and a lower...
Thanks.
I have read that cool factory visit report: http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?10696-A-Visit-to-Jadis
I found this nice review yesterday. It is quite detailed but it doesn't speak about changes and I can't see any differences on the circuit...
