Would you Pay $250 to Hear Specific Equipment at a Dealer?

Same here. Everything I own now I bought online based on reviews and user comments.

Celebrate Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon"

I loved that album and listened to it constantly when it was released. I'm pretty sure I have a digital version, so I need to find it and listen again.

Breaking in gear. Does one really notice/remember a change?

For me there have been occasions in the past where I realize that after some period of time the system really sounds better with new gear.

Attenuation should be clarified as different to pre-amplification

How do you increase/decrease the volume without a pre-amp? How do you switch sources?

Do you use cables to 'tune' the sonics of your system?

I just want cables that move an electrical signal between two points without adding to, or subtracting from, the signal.

    The Music or the Gear?

Both. I want the music I enjoy to sound it's best.

High Performance DC cable for MSB DAC by Angus Leung and Westminster Lab Takes My System to Another Level

As a side note, I have the Westminster Labs cable for the Lumin X1, and I was just amazed at the sonic improvement it provided. Without a doubt it was one of my better cable purchases.

    Pass Labs X600.8s

I love my Pass 600.5 amps. Whether playing classical in the 70db range or metal in the 80-90db range they sound great. Plus they never get out of Class A.

The Rise of the Uber-High End Integrated Amp

Maybe the issue is what defines an Uber high-end integrated amp. Price? Performance? Cosmetics? Manufacturer? All four?

    Done with digital

Not really sure if file format really matters anymore. My Lumin playlists are a combination of ripped CDs, downloaded DSD, and high res tracks from HD Tracks. Maybe I’m going deaf, but I love all of them.

    In-wall cable question

When I had my three 20 amp lines installed I asked that they be 10 gauge lines. The electrician installed solid gauge wire from whatever wire they used. Anyway, they sound great and I haven’t had any issue with them.

When do speakers start to wear out?

I have had my Magico S5 Mark II speakers for at least five years now, and while they sound great, maybe even better than originally, I am curious how long that will be the case. Speakers are mechanical devices, and we all know mechanical devices wear out over time. So, being 72, I was...

    Pass XP-22 broke last night

While looking for another thread, I found this one. Three years later and the XP-22 is working fine. Listening to it now, and the system sounds great. I have to admit time flies. Where did the years go?

Addressing harmful effects of sunlight on my gear

I doubt if sunlight will hurt your gear. At least as long as the temperature doesn’t go above 100 degrees. Maybe after 10-20 years the paint might fade.

    Re-imagining The Cable Connection

Not to hijack this thread, but I have to comment again on the cable. Today, a week later, I have to say this cable is amazing. It has been installed and burning in for a week, and I am just amazed at how good the system now sounds. It is hard to believe that a 0.6 meter cable with premium...

    Re-imagining The Cable Connection

The Westminster Labs cable arrived tonight (Tuesday) about 6:30 PM, which was perfect since Tuesday and Friday night are music and beer nights. Since this power cable is so short compared to the stock X1 power cable I had to move the X1 to the center of the rack, and put the power supply on the...
