Thanks! I don't have master tapes to compare with my digital recordings, but I'm very happy with the sound. I have a Studer A80 RCMKII, 1/2”, HS and I switched from the original cards to Jeff and Charles' NextGen. The sound is incredible!
I am a happy owner of NextGen record+repro cards. I cannot praise them enough. I have been recording on tape since the 60's and for the last ten years from digital files. If you've never tried recording your own tapes, you should. You will not regret.
Music is rhythm/swing, melody and harmony.
The rhythm/swing is intuitive, you want to dance, move your body.
The melody is intuitive, you want to sing, whistle.
Harmony, different sounds played together, is not intuitive.
Jazz is a harmonic structure played with all notes available as...
Jeff Polan and Charles King are working on internal boarding cards for the A820. I have their repro cards for the A80 and they are amazing. Post in thread 'New Repro cards!'

I could finally hear my NextGen repro cards.
Wow! The name is perfect, it's not an incremental improvement, it's a substantial improvement, they're in another league!
Looking forward to the record cards!
Congratulations Jeff and Charles!
If you have a recorder, testing is very easy. Record on tape and compare. If you prefer tape, that's fine, if you prefer the digital file, that's fine too. You'll never know until you hear both sounds.
That’s not my experience. I’ve been recording on tape since the 60’s. It’s not about better than the source, it’s about what do you prefer, direct from CD or from a tape recorded from the CD (or streaming). I prefer from tape. In my experience it depends on the saturation on tape. I know a few...
My Studer A80 RCMKII 1/2”, 2 tracks, 15/30ips is calibrated to 510nWb/m. I use ATR Mastertape with great results.

there is only one reason to go to the tape: listen and fall in love.
I prefer tape to vinyl and digital.
but I sure have a bias.
I prefer tape since the 60's.
Ok, the mechanical behaviour of the system will be affected. Anyway after the settling period the feet could be removed and reinstalled since S(n)>S(n-1), the disorder never diminishes.
"Third, they transfer entropy out of the component. The transfer of disorder out of a component is rooted in the 2nd Law of Thermodynamic"
Since the 2nd law is: delta S > 0, can we remove the CS2 after awhile?
