The new Dream Series DAC + Transport is drawing crowds at AXPONA. Sounded very good with DSD Music from Lyn Stanley (DSD 256 from Moonlight Sessions Vol 1 at NativeDSD), a Blue Coast Music track and Eric Bibb recorded by Jan-Eric Persson at Opus 3.
Definitely worth dropping by the room and...
An interesting comparison of the Grimm AD1 with another ADC can be found at NativeDSD Music in their "Members Only" area (available by creating a Free NativeDSD account).
There they offer a recording of the same performance of "A Midsummer Night’s Dream" by the Budapest Festival Orchestra...
The recording industry panel on MQA at the upcoming Rocky Mountain Audio Fest (RMAF) in Denver has been canceled.
Apparently, the MQA folks decided against participating.
Quite an interesting discussion on all of this among the recording and mastering engineers over at the Gear Slutz Forum...
The LA Show will be back next year. They're off to a good start.
As for the Anaheim Show, they're in trouble now. May not be back.
2018 will tell for them.
It's very impressive.
Kudos to the PrimeSeat team (IIJ, Korg, Sony, Saidera) in taking their 5.6MHz DSD, 2.8 MHz and 24/96 PCM streaming system (started 12/2015) and extending it to Quad DSD Stereo!
The Show in Anaheim scheduled for later this month has been cancelled.

See comment #3 in the cancellation announcement.
Doesn't sound like a combination is likely.

There are 15 Binaural DSD releases available for fans of binaural music at NativeDSD Music.
You can play those on any music system with DSD. No expensive pre-processor hardware required to experience the binaural playback.

I think you are right. RMAF has more key exhibitors than the Anaheim show. Their proximity on the calendar is going to encourage listeners and manufacturers to pick one or the other.
RMAF looks like the winner in that duel.

The show in Anaheim is looking like a smaller one.
Their web site shows just under 40 exhibitors planning to attend.

As it turns out, in many cases there is an Analog Tape recording of Direct to Disc sessions.
I suspect that was the case with the Sheffield recordings as well.
That would explain the Stereo CD editions of these albums that have been issued to date.
Playback Designs has announced their new Dream Series products which include the MPD-8 DAC with Quad DSD playback ($22,000) and the MPT-8 Digital Music Transport ($14,000 - $22,000) which brings CD and SACD disc playback along with an optional music server to the Dream Series products.
The...
Sony Japan already has announced plans to release the new Complete Edition of Santana Lotus in several formats including Surround Sound SACD, Stereo DSD 11.2 MHz (Quad DSD) and DSD 2.8 MHz (Single Rate DSD) music download and Stereo 24/96 PCM music download in Japan on April 19, 2017.
No word...
There are several of the Sheffield Lab direct to disc recordings that would be great transferred from Analog to DSD now that they are long out of print.
Would love to see that.
Depends on who you talk to.
One well known producer and recording engineer, after hearing MQA, told me "I don't want MQA mucking around with my audio."
An interesting take on making money in the world of streaming audio services....

MQA is designed to reduce the size of PCM files to "CD Quality" (16 bit, 44k) and MP3 Quality size using encoding which includes lossy compression and pre-distortion techniques, among others.
Not designed for DSD.

Haven't heard any differences between Ethernet cables here.
You might try the Wireworld Cat 8 Ethernet cables next. Audiostream called it "an extraordinary performer".

If you visit the Computer Audiophile forum there is some discussion of the DAVE by Miska (Jussi Laako from Signalyst) on that.
On the samples, I would agree - the DSD 11.2 MHz files (aka DSD 256) do sound the best!
Actually the Chord DAVE converts DSD music files to high bit rate PCM before conversion to Analog and playback.
So the DSD 11.2MHz files would be worth listening to a Native DSD DAC as well. :)
There are some articles on Positive Feedback about the performance of the Pinot ADC.
It's very impressive!

Tweaks like these can provide a nice sonic enhancement to the stock product (disc player, DAC, etc.). But it only takes you so far in my listening experience.
Playback Designs, Merging and exaSound have nothing to fear from the tweaks. :)
