    Peachtree GaN 1 amp/Power DAC

Now this is fun! Digital input class D amp like the original TACT, Lyngdorf and now Technics. No DAC, preamp, normal amp or line interconnects needed. Just drive this thing from a streamer with great volume control and you have really great sound. Maybe the best sound you can get with...

JRDG (Jeff Rowland Design Group) model 735 monoblock amps

Yes, please not only leave them on all the time but also play music through them continuously.....even at low volumes.....say, at night. You probably have maybe thousands? of hours on the older amps. Guido said it took forever to burn in his big Rowland Integrated. We always hope the latest...

A New Wave of Class D Integrated Amplifiers

Kal, Of course, you would want to review it. It is in the price range of the components you use. However, this does not give anyone enough information to really know what is going on. Why don't all the review magazines send all components to most all reviewers? Rather than the usual review...

A New Wave of Class D Integrated Amplifiers

Yes, this is the kind of reviews the M33 will get. They give the machine to a lower end reviewer like Kal and he does no useful A/Bs. There are people who will think this thing is state of the art from reading such a review. This is how these magazines make money. Take their advertising...

"I found that the Eigentakt was not only powerful enough to drive the A1s -- it sounded as good as the Constellations. As I wrote in my review, “almost nothing about the A1s’ sound had changed -- the tonal balance was the same, the highs were just as extended and the midrange just as pure...

A New Wave of Class D Integrated Amplifiers

Yes, this is exactly what kind of reviews the M33 will get. Statements like "the first product using the Purifi modules"......which is completely false. The all ready released products (at least 7) using the Purifi modules are all sold direct and have much greater sound potential than this all...

A New Wave of Class D Integrated Amplifiers

Java double shot looks like it will be over $10K......I bet it will sound very good. However, the $10K? Technics has technology beyond the beyond. This is way more than class D (which it does well with GaNs and 1.5 meg switching frequency).....the digital distortion reducing features are...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

If you did listen to an air core coil.....you did not listen to the right one implemented in the most tweaky way. The value of the inductor is not super critical......I do have an inductance meter and I match my inductors to the exact value that is in the stock module. Pretty simply really...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

From what I can see all Hypex amps are half bridge. That would mean that the 3000 watt supply should not be used at all on Hypex amplifiers. I notice that Apollon uses the 3K supply on the mono 2K modules. It looks to me like the 2K module has one input modulator stage and two half bridge...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

We already knew it measured great......Audio Science review measured it too. If you use a different op amp on the input that does not have as low of measured distortion as the 1612 op amp (the one installed on the Purifi board) then the distortion measurements would not be quite as good...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

Have you listened to the 3000 watt supply on a single Purifi amp module (mono amps)? If so, how did it sound different from the 1200 watter? This is what really matters.....the sound. Since you believe what Hypex states......you probably did not go out of your way to buy the lower voltage...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

How do you tackle the Achilles' Heels of class D amps? There are lots of limitations in any class of amplifications. When you are dealing with solid state then the more you tweak the more you achieve both clarity and musicality. Tubes naturally make things "sound better". Solid state (done...

I am getting my first mono blocks with the 3000 watt supplies next week. No one in world has ever heard this yet....as far as I know. Bigger power supplies almost always sound better......lower impedance, better slam, dynamics, etc. Looking at it compared to the 1200 watter.....you have a...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

You can change the voltage on the Hypex supplies in seconds by adding or removing a jumper. So, any Hypex power supplied amp can be used anywhere. The power supplies come without the jumper installed (set for 230). If you want 115V then you just add the jumper. That is why when you order...

Quote from Bruno: We decided to call our technology Eigentakt, an obscure German term for self-clocking or self-oscillating. The modules nomenclature is 1ET400A......which I imagine to mean the: First Eigentakt ....400 watt Amp. They are working on a more powerful version now. No, there is...

The truth is very complex in audio. Most everyone has only a small piece of the knowledge of how things make sound.....and this includes manufacturers and techies and designers and users and reviewers....and includes super tweakers like me. Let's look at something way more simple.......quarter...

I am sure the LKV sounds very good. However, I doubt that it is any where near as good as my modded Purifi amps (even my baby stereo amp). The Purifi boards on the LKV amps are stock.....no air core inductors and modded caps.....nor bypassing the power connectors and input connectors......etc...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

You cannot just add an external power supply to an Ncore or Purifi based amp. The power supply is input on certain kinds of connectors on the boards.....there is no jack on the back for plus and minus input voltage. You have to do it inside the unit and hardwire it in. You could run the unit...

Rocking the Boat : Nord Hypex NC1200 Signature Amplifier

The 3K supply comes in two versions....plus and minus 65 volts.....that can power single or up to three NC500s or Purifi modules and a plus and minus 85 volt version can can power NC500s, NC1200s and NC2K. There are three sets of outputs on the 3K supply. So, you could have a three channel...

Just thought of a new option. Hypex has a 3000 watt power supply that you could use for one or two Purifi modules........all things being equal.....bigger power supplies sound better. VTV will do this for people.....then i mod...yeah. The Hypex supply that everyone uses is 1200 watt. This...

The data sheet for the NC 2K says it was released in 2012. VTV Audio does sell mono blocks using these modules....same with Rouge audio (Italy). Looks like one input stage and modulator and two separate outputs that can be used either to bi-amp or be paralleled for super power.

Well, I could not resist.....I am going to be modding Purifi and Nc1200 based amps.....maybe NC500 too. A stereo Purifi amp just arrived today. I am working on something that has not been done in over 20 years with Class D.......might be a breakthrough......will know in a week or so. You can...

The Audion Mono Amps from AGD Production

Yes, indeed the AGD Audion amps could be the best bang for the buck right at this very instant.....but the next instant.....well.....that remains to be seen. The LSA might? sonically compete with it and then there are the tweakers, like me, who can take a modestly priced piece of gear and...

The Audion Mono Amps from AGD Production

Wow, nice stuff you make up......he he. Class D amps are fine with all impedances except some amps cannot do 2 ohms or less very well....some can. Most all amps measure worse as the frequency increases....class d is the same. EPC GaN fets cost just about the same as Mosfets....this is a fact...
