I listened to the Wadax in a system that I'm familiar with and thought it's the most Analog sounding DAC that I've heard. I recently listened to a DCS Rossini in my system and it didn't work well in my system.
I will post my DAC journey. I'm attending the Southwest Audio Fest on March 15th and 16th. I will start my 2nd round of DAC auditions before the end of the month.
audio.bill,
Thanks so much. I love this hobby and getting a component that pushes my system to the next level is such a wonderful feeling. It's so hard to describe the improvements without sounding like I'm crazy or exegerrating. I know it's only a music server, but they can make a significant...
I've played the Oladra all night and day for the past four days. Today I listened to Larry Carlton Fingerprints, Marcus Roberts In Concert for a Cause, KEM LIVE, Joe Sample The Song Lives On, and several others. Prior to the Oladra, adding REL subwoofers had the most impact on my system. I had a...
The Oladra has the most impact on my system than any other component that I have ever heard in my system. The richness of instruments and naturalness of voices, the enveloping soundstage, dynamics, realism, detail while sounding relaxed is simply outstanding in my system. I will write a small...
I recently compared the DCS Rossini APEX and Mola Mola Tambaqui DACs to the Chord Dave in my system. I decided to keep my Dave and instead of continuing to evaluate DACs I ordered the Oladra.
I went from a Antipodes DSGT, to a S30/S40/S60 combination, and to my current K21/K41. I don't hear a "massive" difference, but I do hear an easily discernable difference that's worth it to me.
I've listened to several speakers....Vivid Audio, Acora, Fyne, Magico, and a couple others. I really like Vivid Audio Giya G1s, but decided that the PL500s are most likely my last speakers.
When are "we" going to mature as audiophiles to move past such silly questions? Do you mean prefer, because depending on the "system", including the room, what one prefers can change based on the other components in the system.
"Tried Grimm MU1 in my chain to see differences myself against the K50, though the MU1 is great for the money (REALLY good for the $) and has a more forward/direct/neutral/flat sound, the K50 made music sound more like music, especially vocals. I knew going into the experiment that it would...
I've had my Monitor Audio PL 500 II speakers for seven year. I love my speakers and thought the Hyphns were the logical choice to replace my PL500s. $90K is just too much for me to spend on speakers.
Funny how this hobby works. I just had a home audition of Valhalla 2 power cords and found them bright, thin, and not so good in my system. I actually prefer the musicality of the Tyr2 power cords compared to Valhalla 2s in my system.
Sorry if I'm off topic. My system isn't at the same level, but I've had Clarus Crimson speaker cables for several years. I've tried Nordost Odin 1, Infigo Signature, High Fidelity, Audience Front Row, Audioquest Thunderbird and Dragons, Shunyata Sigmas, and a couple others. I don't believe in...
"NEWS FLASH - these guys are all trying to make money please keep this in mind." I could agree more with your statement. The funny thing is some Youtubers are trying to convince their followers that everything is being done for them.
I've owned different Rowland components for the past 10 years. His customer service is truly outstanding. He has helped me several times with connecting my subwoofers and trying to eliminate a ground loop issue with my HT when using the HT bypass on my Corus preamp.
For further context...I've listened to Magico M3s several times, including with my own amplifier and preamp. I've previously owned Wilson Audio Sophia 2s, 3s, and Sashas, so I was surprised with tonal change of the new Wilsons. I prefer the M3s bass to the Alexia Vs, but no matter what system...
I love the No. 32 in 2-channel and to my surprise I prefer it for movies over any subwoofer that I've owned. The bass is powerful, you feel it and hear it. I just can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying the No. 32s for music and movies.
I really like my Jeff Rowlands 735s. I talked to Mr. Rowland several days ago about replacing my Corus preamp and he said, "the Corus's will be replaced soon." I wish I knew what "soon" meant? My concern is, what happens when Mr. Rowland decides to retire? If required, will I be able to get my...
I'm not affiliated with Infigo Audio in anyway, but I consider Calvin a friend. I met Calvin several years ago at the LoneStar Audio Show in Dallas, TX. and we have stayed in contact. I had a home audition of Infigo's Signature XLRs and preferred them in my system. This thread had zero impact on...
In my opinion the problem is two-fold. A component can impact every system differently and some "audiophiles" exaggerate differences between components. Personally, I have yet to hear night and day differences between components.
To your point, now that I've heard the K41 and K21 together, I'm considering the Oladra as my next purchase, as opposed to spending more money on a DAC. I love the K41/K21 combination so much, I'm curious to hear the Oladra.
