My experience with the Gustard R26

The A26 is very clean and clinical - however IMHO, the Denafrips Ares II sounds more holographic. It reproduces the felt space around the instruments and it has more depth than the A26.

Legacy Audio Aeris - My Take

Congrats on your purchase!!!! The Aeris appears to be the replacement for the Whispers as I believe they are now discontinued. I recently became a Whisper owner and hear the same things that you do, especially the depth of individual instruments in space. I don't think I'm going to upgrade...

Are computer front ends now 100% superior?

As far as being superior...I don't know. If you're a PC nerd like myself, you will use it to your advantage. I actually have two pc's in my system...the first is my desktop and it's only function is to be the media server for my house hold (video and audio). The second is my NAS (network...

    Are Transports Obsolete?

I have a large CD collection and I actually LOVE CD's!!!!! However I'm also a computer geek nerd. This is an advantage in the area of tech. People who love their transports/dac combos, turntables, reel-to-reels ....more power to them, they're great players. I just found that I can have the...

    Are Transports Obsolete?

The only time I touch a CD now is to rip it. I'm not a streamer in the traditional sense (I leave that for my vehicles). However, my music cd's reside on a 20TB server. In jriver - I load everything into memory ... no glitches, no problems, no getting up either. Yes, I can listen to an entire...

Chinese DAC shames a few heavy hitters

No...the X16 it's a MQA (not interested in the MQA part) capable Dac with the ESS ES9068AS chip(x2) and the new OPA1612A opamps. This unit knocks it out of the park on the test bench and if I would describe its sound - Clear and very clean! Kinda like playing outside on a 93 degree day and...

    Polk, really?

There's a rod where the speakers can be coupled to the wall itself (2.3's, 1.2's).

Does "competes with much more expensive" actually exist?

However those very ears are flawed by age and other health factors. Causes me to wonder do any of us really hear the exact same thing? Maybe we need to present an audiologist report before our comments so people can get a gist of where we're at in our ability to perceive sonics?

Chinese DAC shames a few heavy hitters

I just purchased a Gustard x16 that I'm giddy about!!! It's a nice piece of work and is possibly the cleanest dac that I've heard. It also test very well.

    Multi-channel McIntosh amps

What are your thoughts on McIntosh multichannel amps? I just purchased a MC8207 and I love it. However - my former main amp (B&K Reference 200.7) is not far off in performance. The 8207 is a work of art visually. I wonder how does it compare to the likes of the 207 (as the 207 is like $4k more...

    Florida Audio Expo

I'm proud to say that I'm going to this one!!!! I haven't been to an audio show/expo since 2012, which happens to coincide with the last time there was an event in the south! I've been waiting for this to happen. Those that can come ... please come!!! The event is free, and Tampa is a nice...

    Best music software?

I'm still a JRiver user (Jriver 24 64bit - as I also use MathAudio Room EQ), thought about foobar2000, they have a MathAudio Room EQ plugin for free - but alas, I've already paid for the Windows vst version. I love Jriver myself. I guess I love the ability to tweak it to my taste. Now I'm...

    Jriver Video Problems

I believe I've seen this error before. When you uninstalled JRiver - did you do a complete uninstall (to include registry entries). If I'm not mistaken - this is what it took for someone else in another forum to get rid of this error.

Suggestions for music to be played at shows?

Kirk Whalum, Norman Brown, Rick Braun. Yes, I like jazz. You might want to throw some pop into the mix also (although I don't listen to much pop/rock).
